Many of us have watched him for years.

Personally, my opinion of a player is not based on the HF Leafs prospect list voting. If that is what you base your opinions on, everything now makes sense with regards to your posts.
You have watched him many years in the minors because he wasn't good enough to earn a steady NHL job. There, fixed it for you.

omg liligren looks so good out there today .....
our 2021 secret weapon has been unleashed

He reminds me a lot of Stralman. He needs to be playing over one of Dermott/Sandin at least.

If Keefe is smart he runs these pairings:

Rielly Brodie
Muzzin Liljegren
Sandin Holl
Dermott

Kids each play with a vet and Holl gets some easier minutes on the third pairing. If needed Muzzin and Holl on PK. Sandin gets some extra PP time.

Would prefer to have Sandin develop his Defensive game more in the AHL like Liljegren has as well as continue to work on his speed. I think he and the team will be better for it in the long term.

ye honestly if we keeping dermott(which we clarly are) then im seeing what i have with menell and letting sandin eat up huge minutes in the AHL

Lily is a monster and has definitely become stronger. He has earned a spot over Dermott imo
Dermott provides good transition speed and excellent zone denial. I like liljegren but would be inclined to let Sandin work on his skating with the Marlies. He is a really smart player but his speed is horrible. He often gets beaten if the opposing team breaks out fast.
I would also look to trade Holl. With Menell, Broadie and Lil we have 3 RH dmen with Dermott able to fill in case of injury.
Offensively, I'd trade Mikheyev.

Sandin has won the PP2 spot, and will at some point challenge for PP1.
He is played awesome this camp, and held on to his pre-camp bottom pairing assignment without question.

He is not IMO in competetition in any way with Lil

Last night vs Montreal was probably the best game that I've seen Liljegren play.

When Liljegren struggles, I find that he wanders around, losing position in both ends of the ice and makes a lot of poor decisions on when to pinch. Last night, I don't think that happened at all. He made several strong breakout passes, wasn't caught too often and was pretty sound defensively.

I think trading Holl would be a mistake. Given his 2 million dollar cap hit for this year and next, that’s a steal with what similar defencemen signed for this off-season. He’s a perfect fit on the third pair and on the penalty kill.

Dermott would be the defenceman I would be looking to trade.

To Toronto: Ryan Lindgren
To Rangers: Travis Dermott, Ilya Mikheyev

Or

To Toronto: Marcus Pettersson
To Pittsburgh: Travis Dermott, Ilya Mikheyev

Ritchie - Matthews - Marner
Bunting - Tavares - Nylander
Kerfoot - Kampf - Kase
Spezza - Brooks - Simmonds

Rielly - Brodie
Muzzin - Liljegren
Pettersson - Holl

With Lilly its all in his head. If you watch him in the AHL he is completely dominant but never looks comfortable at the NHL level. The one game I saw this year that he looked like he does in the AHL (calm and collected) was the Blue VS White game.

He is going to overcome this, he just needs some trust and some time playing

They aren't paying Dermott 1.5 million to be the #7 D man

Liljegren has been one of our best defenseman this preseason. He’s looked great
