I have no idea who a replacement is, but I do know that Keefe's message is not working now. He has not been able to focus this team. The salary cap issue hurts competition, he has failed Sandin, Lily.
He does not drive this team, he toys with it, he pleads with players, you can see that during the game. He remains too close and needs to show more power to his team. He is not one of the boys. Obviously he and Dubas need aging or style change.
This team has talent, up and down. They have a good mix of age now.
What they do not have is a driver.

This sounds similar to time to hire Mike Babcock and no one thought that he'd be hired here and he finally did and we all know how that turned out.

They fired Babs cause he was an ass but also held the players accountable and they didn't like the hard ass approach so now with country club Keefe they are tuning them out?

Seems to me not a coaching but a player problem. Trotz is not bringing in his defensive style and hard ass approach to change this team they will revolt against him.

Pardon the intrusion.

Trotz is great, but not sure he is right for your roster / franchise.

IMO the best coaching match for the Leafs at this time is Quenneville.

Let the new GM pick his coach.
And, let the new President hire the new GM. They developed the blueprint for this team. I think Chelios had it right (his brown-nose comment about Shanahan).

Sadly, it might take something like Matthews leaving for a (complete) regime change. If we don't go beyond the 2nd round of the playoffs this year, which would be utter failure given all circumstances, then not sure changing the coach will be enough.

Mike Babcock did a lot of good things with this team. Really not sure what you mean by that
Like every coach he too had an expiry date

But he brought back a lot of credibility and structure after a long along time. But he had to go, his time was up and that's how it is

A major trade will happen first. Marner and Nylander are the two that hold the most value in return for their needs.
If Dubas is not on board with a trade, he can ride his dingy with keefe into the SSM wind storm.

Funny how the rangers, lightening, Avs etc can all have guys like Perry, Maroon etc but the leafs would rather have the likes of malgin, Engvall etc

Keefe is not getting the most out of this roster and it might be time to go after a veteran coach like Barry Trotz? Someone who has won the Cup with talented players and someone who can bring some accountability.
Why don't you drive Auston Matthews to the airport while you're at it?

I gotta be honest I don't get the crusade against Keefe. People just smell blood and want to get ahead of anything so they can claim they were right about the problem is my guess.

Also hiring Trotz, a guy who stiffles any offense with a roster built with 40M in forwards and offensive dmen on the blue line is a terrible idea. No different than giving Babcock a young skill team instead of a vet cycle team. Coaching fit matters

Florida made the Stanley Cup in their 3rd? (maybe 4th) season.. Vegas went to the cup final. This "oh its an expansion" excuse is just that.. an excuse..

Two outliers doesn't make the argument you think it does. Look at ALL expansion teams and you will find a rather different answer.

Stop cherry-picking trying to make a point that has already been disproved.
