and he has been passed around like a cheap hooker... why is that?

This is actually an interesting question. Because his on ice results are obviously excellent. He has his reputation for good reason.

I sort of wonder (And this is just nothing but speculation) if he has a tendency to butt heads with GMs and other folks behind the scenes. He certainly strikes me as someone who's going to have strong opinions about things

I echo your thoughts.

It's probably because you don't know your hockey history. your biased perception vs what is true are not congruent. Three teams in twenty three years is not getting passed around. Good coaches tend to be in demand.

The top 6 winningest coaches: Bowman 5 teams, Joel Quennville 4 teams, Trotz 3 teams, Hitchcock 6 teams, Ruff 3 teams, Arbour 2 teams.

Which is a good thing, you don't want a wall flower for a leader. I specifically look for and hire and reward well people who are wiling to challenge me and my leadership team. I want people who are leaders not followers on my team.

Trotz has been a coach of 3 teams in 23 years. Most people, normies like you and me, remain in a job for 5 to 8 years with on average 4 to 6 job changes their lifetime.

Torts is the best. A sc winner also. Keefe truly is a hockey guy, thats why they love him. Sometimes wrong, sometimes right, but he was a man. Not the right man for us though.

Nice to hear Barry getting a condo in Toronto. He finna coach us soon. Wich is nice.

Right... because how well did Barry do with all his other teams....
Besides winning a cup with the Caps, he took a bottom 10 team that was last place in GA to being 1st in the league in GA and several deep playoff runs including the conference finals back to back years. He also coached an expansion team that never had star players up front and would still make the playoffs pretty much every year in a stacked conference back then.

I'd say he's a pretty damn good coach

I wasn't trying to apply that it was necessarily a bad thing per se, but an external perspective, he seemed to have a bit of a strange end in Washington after the cup win, plus his premature fireing from the isles does raise an eyebrow.

None of this is also to say I wouldn't want him as a Leafs coach, but I think there's certainly a few valid questions floating around. If he does become a serious contender for a future Leafs job, whomever hires him had better make damn sure that he's going to get along with the GM lol. We don't need another round of drama behind the scenes here of drama behind the scenes here

I don't disagree that questions are good but conflicts between people happen. When you have two men who are a Alpha's, those type of roles, GM and Coach, tend to attract confident, suborn. Alpha men. Your bound to have a shelf life... it does not mean that something is wrong with Trotz, IMO personality conflicts are normal between Alpha's. For NYI - When you are the 3rd highest winningest coach of all time, you're going to be pretty confident your way is the best. When you are a multiple time winning SC champion Gm, your going to be pretty sure your way is the best. The ending in NY is not surprising to me at all. I'm surprised it didn't happen earlier. I think the GM in Washington was expecting an early exit and was going to use Barry as a sacrificial lamb to save his own job and them Barry wins a cup and the GM looks like a fool.

I'm not sure Kyles ego could handle Trots and his resume. I don't think Kyle could. Kyle reminds me of one of those Beta guys who cry's during puppy videos. The question is if you get a Coach who makes his stars play right, no cheating, no cherry picking does that make the GM's job harder to sign Matthews, Marner and Nylander? Playing hockey the right way, takes effort and is not fun at times, if you are made to work hard for your money in Toronto under Trotz vs you are offered more money elsewhere and can work for a cream puff coach who lets you cheat and rack up individual awards and make more money, is it really a tough decision to make? Trotz is the anti-Keefe.

Since Dubas is now a “Lame duck” coach without a contract I doubt upper management will allow his to pick a new coach especially someone with the stature of Trotz

i am sure the Media here will just gloss over that. next ten games will see them back on track.

Trotz was not fired by 3 teams. He walked from the Caps after winning the cup and not sure if he was simply not resigned by Nashville. Lou fired him because he feared losing Lane Lambert (sound familiar??).

Some fans on this board claim, Lou is a fool and the only good thing he did on the Island was to hire Trotz. The Isles success was all Trotz. Now that he is available, he sucks.

Whether he was fired or walked away from teams that he appeared to be successful with is mostly where we are now, why leave the Caps, Nash or even the NYI when they seemed better than their rosters would allow. It can be said the same about Babcock, he got TO into the playoffs with 4 significant rookies and basically a nonexistent defense, he kept Detroit relevant for years even as that roster was losing significant players.

Trotz=Babcock

They both won 1 Cup which is a good thing but they both needed superior rosters to win and whether or not they were able to get suspect teams to overachieve is perhaps, poppycock.

There's reasons that Trotz has left his last 3 teams under questionable circumstances.

It's possible Trotz might be an answer, personally, I think it's a player issue.

I wish we had Sutter as coach. Loved his comments last night. I feel like our stars need a good kick in the ass every once in a while and Sutter won't walk back his comments like Keefe did. Keefe is a fiery guy as we saw from the Amazon doc but I don't think I'll ever understand him having to coddle Mitch after his comments. He wasn't wrong.

Despite the daily up and downs, one constant remains: Trotz is a better coach than Keefe.
