Keefe is not getting the most out of this roster and it might be time to go after a veteran coach like Barry Trotz? Someone who has won the Cup with talented players and someone who can bring some accountability.
Right... because how well did Barry do with all his other teams....

I think Trotz is the most likely next coach, here, but I’m not convinced that move is made until after the season. We would probably see a new GM, Shanny replaced, and a new staff.

Sources confirm Trotz didn't rent a condo after all, but parked his caravan trailer on Yonge street instead, in preparation for the parade next summer.

Well he took an offensively talented team which had habitually underachieved in the playoffs (sound familiar?) and did eventually win a cup with them, that is a fact.

I don't actually think coaching is the biggest problem here and dislike that this seems to be catering to the players as when Babcock was let go. IMO it's also unjust to Keefe, but that's another discussion.

If they're going to try a coaching replacement, it might as well be with Trotz, if he's willing. Short of major player moves, what other play do they have left?

Does anyone truly think Dubas will fire Keefe? All reports are that they are very close and have been for a long time. I can't see him ruining that friendship over this, and if I were in his shoes I wouldn't either if I thought I could get another GM job this off season.

Friedman is also reporting that Trotz is looking for a coaching role where he transitions into the front office. Dubas won't hire Trotz to have him eventually take his role. I personally don't want Trotz (another rookie GM) running this team when Matthews/Marner/Nylander contracts come up.

You don’t lose friendships when you quit/fired from a job. I’ve worked for friends multiple times in different positions and have quit or been let go, the friendship survives. Adults know business is business.

Dreger said Trotz is not ready to coach until December. Is it possible that Leafs management are simply waiting for Trotz to be ready before making the move ?? If they lose the next 3 or 4, an assistant coach could step in until Trotz is ready.

This guy, never heard of him.

Must love the view of the lake. Hmmm.

I’m sorry you keep getting fired. I’ll be shocked if Dubas fires Keefe.

No need to apologize, I was let go once and it wasn’t due to performance issues. Like I said, adults can see the difference between friendships and business. I’ve owned companies and had to let friends go, just part of it.

Good. Hopefully there's a sense of this being a watershed moment for everyone.

A trade right now might be of timely impact , especially given Muzzin's absence.

Wonder how this is going to resonate with some of our more...sensitive players.
So what various wonders did you wonder up?

Trotz as a coach has been under intensive media criticism More than a few points in his career, I'm sure he's genuinely sympathetic towards what Keefe has been going through. Not everything is cynicism lol
