You guys probably don't remember this but when Johnson obliterated Ryan Smyth, Laperriere was on the ice and went after Johnson. Blake was also on the ice when that happened and stepped in and had a talk with Lappy and made sure nothing happened. He stepped in as a leader, it's just that a lot of these things go unnoticed.

Also, aside from Johnson, how many young dmen did this team bring in for Blake to mentor? Johnson is the only one that comes to mind. Hell, Mattias Norstrom credits Blake for being a big part of his success as an NHL player.

The point is Blake feels genuinely bad at how he handled many things in LA. If he feels so strongly and is openly embarrassed at our Cup celebration, that's enough for me. I'm not going to hold a grudge against the guy forever. Give the poor guy some closure. I hope he continues to help Dean and also learn from him. I also hope him and Dean are at the helm for many, many more Cups.

My god Red Sox fan's forgave Bill Buckner after they won the world series.

Guy realized he made a mistake, when his number is retired, hopeful most of the never did anything wrong patrol will not be in attendance.

Love your nick.

I hear the same song every time he posts!

Talk about derailing a thread, I am now watching Fred Sanford vs. Aunt Esther!

Man, that was one funny show.

Love your nick.

Cal Pettie: Say Fred , let me ask you a question. Whatever happened to Esther's real husband?
Fred G. Sanford: Woody? Oh, he died and went to heaven. He had to go to heaven because he caught all the hell there was while he was here with Esther.

I enjoy arguing with black63, he is a very loyal fan to pretty much every player who has ever played for the Kings. He likes to criticize me about Stoll, Smyth and others but this was the guy who to this day still thinks Matt Frattin and Ethan Moreau made positive contributions to the roster.

Like K17 said, it's not so much a grudge, I no longer have a problem with Blake working for the Kings, but I and others just don't believe his play on the ice warrants having his jersey retired. When I think jerseys going up to the rafters I think of players who were revered by the fans of their franchise, and I just don't see that with Blake

I love how you freely put your words into my mouth. For the record herbert, i never said Frattin made positive contributions. I said he never got a fair shake, big difference don't you think? Frattin may be the next Teddy Purcell. In any case, if you have to lie to try and make your point, you've already lost the argument.

I was at that game, remember that.

Again, congrats to Rob Blake and look forward to seeing number 4 up in the rafters.

If you saw the look on JJ's face, he was white as a ghost, thinking that he had to fight Lappy, until Blake stepped in.

Edit: I'd be curious to know what Lappy told his coach and teammates after heading back to the bench and not fighting JJ as he was told

Yet another false equivalency. The Blake and Buckner situations are not even remotely the same.

They both f'd up, but one fan base forgave after they won the championship, and a select few of the other fan base is too stubborn to forgive and move on.

Actually he's not. It's the people that are unfairly hatin' on him that makes it appear so.

This is about 10 lbs. of baloney, no matter how you slice it.

How many times has Blake been re-packaged by the Kings to be sold to us.

No problem with him working in the front office, if he is earning his keep. He didn't do enough as a player or as a leader of this franchise to get his #4 in the rafters.

One made a physical error on a single play in a baseball game and then reacted to the hatred of an irrational fan base.

The other...well if you can't see the difference, what's the point?

So you're saying that you're still bitter and that the kings fans have every right to hold a grudge against Blake?

Unfairly hatin'? Get the hell out of here with that crap, there are without a doubt reasons to "hate" Blake. Forgiveness for what happened is up to each individual, but don't pretend like nothing happened.

Being hated for this long...yeah, I'd say it's pretty unfair. Actually, childish is the better word, but we'll go with unfair for now.
