Yeah, Tim and Sid were just givin' it to him with the stalker jokes, too funny.
"That's so TFC!" LOL

And Markstrom. Florida is just mentioned because that's Luongo's first choice, from all indications they're not even interested in him LOL.
Have we discussed the possibility of bring in Luongo and using one of the buyouts on him and negotiating a more reasonable contract? Does that make any sense?
Oh yeah Markstrom too lol. They're just throwing them in the rumour talks, but the only team that really NEED Luongo are the Leafs. The Lightning need a goalie, but they aren't mentioned at all.

Honestly, one of their better bits-- it's so true![]()
1. Two buyout periods. One after this year and one after next. Total 2 buyouts per team allowed. (This is my understanding)
2. Owners would obviously care but what i was trying to suggest in my post was that IF the buyouts are part of the equation which calculated total revenue for a team, with the Leafs, it will just most likely decrease/negate the "revenue sharing" they would normally pay to poor teams and thus not have a huge impact on the bottom line.
I could be wrong on #2, this is why i posted as a question originally. Would love to see what the CBA says about this...anyone know?
Man, percentages are there for a reason. You're discounting the use of weighted percentages applied to each standings position. It's not like the 14th last team has the same odds as the bottom 3 teams as you seem to be implying.
I'm confused as to why Florida needs Luongo... They have Theodore and didn't they re-sign Clemmensen in the summer?
I really hope that we don't trade for Luongo. It seems like while this will help us over the next 4 - 5 years, this trade will haunt us 6+ years down the road.
I also don't like the idea of giving up Kadri. Bozak, Franson and a 2nd should be plenty as Vancouver doesn't really have a lot of other options.
LMFAO, for a franchise who hasn't made the playoffs in 7 years, we're worried what MAY 'haunt' us in 6 years?
you don't even know what the league will look like in 6 years
plus the leafs are the richest team in the league, i'm sure they can find the cash flexibility to do what ever with him
heck, he wouldn't even be the top 5 worst contract on this team. look at burke's free agent signings, they're mostly awful. i have more confidence in this contract than in 75% burke's sign or will sign. he overpays players like crazy.
we desperately need a talented goalie, that's the only thing we know for sure. when we had cujo/eddy= playoffs each year except 06 and a playoff win most years.
so yea while you protect yourself from what MAY happen in 6 years i'll take one of the best goalies in the league to finally shore up this team's biggest weakness for at least a few years
Couldn't have said it better myself, I feel the same way. Too many people worry about the future rather than what's going on this year. Who cares what happens 6 years down the road, we'll deal with that when we get there, until then I want a legit #1 and some playoff hockey.

Where are you getting your information from? I think you're confused as to the way the lottery used to work.
This is the fanbase that's all gungho over the Kessel trade,
Does his value drop in half if reimer and scrivy play like crap (which they will)?
The Panthers won't be offering Weiss IMO. Other than Huberdeau they really don't have anyone else at C.
Weiss is a UFA at seasons end, talks have not gone well on a new deal in Florida and the Panthers may lose him to free agency next summer.
Lots of reason why Florida may part with Weiss in a Luongo deal. They also have a top ranked prospect pool to fill future NHL spots as you mentioned Huberdeau being one..

Huh, didn't know that about Weiss, thanks.
Why don't we trade for him? He's a T.O boy isn't he?![]()
Or we could just sign him next summer when he is a UFA with all our free cap space.![]()
