Player Discussion Tim Stützle - (C) - Part VI

Shades of Alfie… I don’t mind it

Gonna be our first 80 pt forward since Spezza iirc, feels so good to have this stud for at least another 8 years.

21 yrs old lol… Norris getting injured was honestly a blessing in disguise even just because of how much it accelerated Timmy’s development
Unless Norris's injury becomes a chronic issue, which is still a worry I have.

Tim Stützle(21 years old) the first Ottawa Senator to score 82 points since Erik Karlsson(25yrs Old) did it 7 years ago.

Next up is 84 pts last done by Jason Spezza(28yrs old) 11 YEARS ago!

Holy f*** I am so happy this kid is a Senator. Sens won the 2020 draft lottery.
Brady will likely pass the 82 and perhaps 84 mark as well.

Dynamic duo!

Full season of a healthy and focused Bath, a comfortable and signed Cat, a healthy Norris, and a supremely motivated G and we could have all the points lol.

We’re about the have 5 forward with over 60 points, when was the last time that happened.

Obviously he’s having a great season, but I do hope he will be better defensively, still too many give aways for my liking… 2 really bad giveaways against the devils on Saturday

Tkachuk Norris Batherson

Was an excellent line last season, playing heavy hockey and a terror to defend

I'd like to see it next year, leaving

DeBrincat Stuetzle Giroux

That setup is a nightmare for opposing coaches.

Although I don't disagree with anything, there have been a lot less liberties taken on Stu this year, I think we know why. Having Debrincat there instead of Brady still gives you 2/3 of that line.

I always prefer to set lines up by duos, it might be a case where just swapping Tkachuk to Stüs line as needed could deter any shenanigans

I really admire the way Tim owns up to his own shortcomings. Doesn't beat around the bush, simply says "I have to be better" and even goes into details. All this from a 21 year old player who is playing at a better than point per game for the whole year. He has a really refreshing attitude and this will make him into a superstar in the NHL.

Some of that is obviously due to Tkachuk

But I think also partially due timo Stu's own physical maturation and his budding status as a super star

I actually think he's been a pretty good defensive player this year relative to the other players on the team.

The giveaways are absolutely brutal though and he needs to erase that from his game. Not sure I consider it bad defensive play - it's more trying to do too much or showboat and having it blow up in his face.

He is following Alfie's footsteps. The Alfie that would put too much pressure on himself to get it done while others choked and gagged. And he will learn, with maturity, that the best thing he can do is play his game to the best of his abilities and the results will take care of itself. He can't play for others. But the kid is 21 and he will realize this in due time

It's extremely rare.

I also think that Stutzle has to stay with Brady otherwise opposing players will take liberties & they do now sometimes to get Tkachuk to go after them to get him off the ice. Another answer would be to sign or trade for a player who can play in the top six who will go after guys that take liberties. EK thanked Neil for taking care of him for a number of yrs, it's an important role if you want your stars to flourish whether it's one guy or by committe you have to protect your star players or they won't want to play here. Tkachuk seems to know exactly how to play that role & has done a great job of looking after Stutzle & giving him the room to become a star in this league.

If we consider where he was 2 years ago and where he is now, and having to face the other teams top Cs and top lines all year ... I think he has made incredible progress in all aspects of this game. He is a rare player. Not many players this young have the puck as much as he does and drive play as much as he does and contribute at both ends like he does.

He makes some mistakes and tries to do too much sometimes and he is still learning. Needs a little coaching to get the relatively few repeat mistakes out of his game

Oh for sure, but I can't help but feel Timmy plays bigger because he knows Brady is right there. Either way, the lines will be fun to watch once Norris is back.

Stuetzle (and Tkachuk) will completely blow away franchise records for points. Stu currently has 169 points and 8 more years, Tkachuk has 269 points and 5 more years. We'll be in the middle of our competitive window. I can't see Brady bolting if we're a contender.

he is a unicorn.

Skill of Spezza, work ethic of Alfredsson, skating of EK

I think the team likes Brady as some protection on Stu’s wing, as do I.

Not taking anything away from Norris but Stutzle is the #1C now as far as I am concerned. Norris is quite a bit more complimentary the Stutzle. I don't think any coach is going to play a LW ahead of Tkachuk even if they are proven 40 goal scorers. Giroux also provides a great option as a 1RW now that we did not have before. If DCat is sticking around I think DCat Norris Batherson would be a good upgrade on what we got from Pinto this year as a rookie playing 2C. I also think DCat and Batherson are developing chemistry. We've come a long way from DJ playing White at 1C in his sophomore season.
