Player Discussion Tim Stützle - (C) - Part VI

I know this is probably the right answer, but my god... he didn't just kick down the door over the last year, he blew through it with a friggin bazooka.

But then guys like Jack Hughes seemed to generate a lot more chatter last year during his own breakout season, which is now less impressive than what Stutzle has done in his D+3 imo. And he's also on a small market team. Or like how Aho on the canes was getting heaps of praise in his D+4 season when he first broke the PPG barrier.

Stu just seems to be having the most quiet and incredible D+3 years of any superstar in recent memory. Imo. What he's done at his age is much more impressive than what Tage Thompson has done over the same amount of time, but you would never know about it if you didn't follow the Sens closely.
the hype is def increasing

It will come

This is his coming out party. If he keeps going into next season and into a playoffs he will get his due

Unless you play for a big market or playoff team where a lot more people are watching it takes time
German and plays for the Ottawa Senators. Only reasons why.

He is worth the price of admission. It’s getting to the point that someone can say “let’s go see Tim Stutzle”, and they will pay their 30-40 bucks just to see him. They will come from far, not knowing why, but remembering their youths, when everything was good. It will bring them back to times of when Pavel Bure would touch the puck and there would be an instant electric switch. Oh, they will come. People will come Ray, they most definitely will come

(Read in James Earl Jones voice)

Why does it feel like he doesn't get much recognition around the league for what he's done in the last 80+ games?

He's not really getting bad mouthed or downplayed by anyone, but I feel like the hockey world isn't nearly as enamored with him as they should be. Anyone who was on the fence about his potential as a superstar needs should no longer be there anymore.

I think he feels like one of those players that's been around longer than they actually have been. And what he's doing in his D+3 year is going right over the heads of most people. He's still on his ELC and that is just nuts on every level.

Point being is that he's clearly the most talented player on the ice most nights according to the eye test. He's extremely hard not to notice. And his stats back up what your eyes are telling you, that he really is that special of player. Like he is getting close to being a franchise level player if he isn't already.

Hughes was on a pretty torrid pace this year but he’s slowed down a touch now. He’s also leading a team to the playoffs for the first time in a while so there’s more narrative to sink your teeth into.

If Stutzle rips off 100 next year (I think he will) and the Sens make the playoffs (I think they will) he will be impossible to ignore and will be talked about as a top 10 player in the game.

Do you guys think the Sens could use Dominick Bokk? Like give him a whirl at the big club if it doesn't work down to Belleville/back to Germany? I don't think Bokk would cost much in a trade and He really had a great season in the DEL before injury. I also I think the canes would sell as they don't really have room for him.

He is also friends with Timmy so it could be worth a shot. Edmonton tried with Kahun, but I think Bokk is better than Kahun. So I don't know what do you guys think?

Tim currently has 78 points and has missed 4 games, so the most he can play is 78 games.
There are 13 games left so:

- If he gets 0 points (extremely unlikely) he'll finish at 1.00 P/GP.
- If he scores a P/PG he'll finish with 91 points.
- If he scores at his season pace (1.20) he'll finish with 78+16.=94 points.
-If he scores at his recent (Jan. 1 'til now) pace (1.42) he'll finish with 96 points

Stutzle since the beginning of "meaningful games" (the first Detroit game):

Good thing we never traded Tkachuk and Chabot for that 1OA

Howdy, I was scrolling through twitter and saw tweets about lasts night game that I found interesting.

So I am sure every Sens fan here remembers the heat Stutzle took for diving from Montreal fans when he entered the league. It was almost immediately after they faced Montreal for first time with Timmy on the sens. After the narrative spread, I am pretty sure there were really only a few select fan bases that really dug in on it and hyped it up as an issue. I would say primarily Montreal and a dash of NYR. I would say most fan bases shrugged and went "eh it happens" moved on and overall still liked him as a player, but will still hate when he draws a call against their team.

Given that most other fan bases had shrugged it off, I was surprised to see another fan base really really digging into the Timmy diver narrative that can be added to that list. Toronto fans were all over twitter about Timmy being a diver.

I find this interesting for 2 reasons. The first being their fan base was definitely one of the ones that actually just didn't care all that much about the Timmy diving narrative initially. Second, Timmy Diving really isn't as prevalent as it was when Montreal started it.

Now, we immediately knew why Montreal started this, they were peanut butter and jealous. NYR, at the time frustrated with Laf not being an instant all star did not enjoy the thought that they may not have the best player from 2020 despite Laf being concensus #1. Easy to solve.

Now the fun question, why exactly are the Leafs fans digging in all of the sudden? Is it just that the rivalry is actually engaging to them again?

Haven't noticed any diving from him this season. Was overblown from the start. He was a teenager playing against men, and doing it at high speeds. He puts guys in bad spots with his skating, uses his edges and gets tripped, hooked, slashed etc. Draws penalties because he earns them.

Couldn't really care less what other fanbases think they see. I've watched close to all his games as a Senator. He's a developing superstar who plays extremely hard and is competitive in all situations.

Because Matthews had the biggest dive of the night. Defensive bunch.

It was the same shit when Crosby entered the league. They know Stutzle is about to become one of the most dominant players in the league. They are trying to get into his head.

He has some fire, in a couple years with added strength he will pick his spots and punish guys on the forecheck. Already does at times.

Would love to see him develop a bit more edge similar to Forsberg, throw some reverse hits. He battles hard, but the man strength isn't there yet. You can see he has the potential to dominate physically in flashes though.

I don't think he did that on purpose.
However, he sometimes loses his temper quickly. It does of course prove how engaged and eager he is to become a better player and win, but he really needs to learn to control his emotions, otherwise he will put himself or his team mates in trouble. Just look how his frustration correlates with stupid play making decisions (easy puck losses, bad decision making in front of the net, many penalties).

Dangerously obvious after taking a penalty… but I like it.

Shades of Alfie… I don’t mind it

Gonna be our first 80 pt forward since Spezza iirc, feels so good to have this stud for at least another 8 years.

21 yrs old lol… Norris getting injured was honestly a blessing in disguise even just because of how much it accelerated Timmy’s development

Lets not forget that we have our other #1C in Norris waiting to get healthy. The improvement on overall centre slotting and impact on 5v5 / PP cannot be understated. Cant wait for next year already.

Like seriously… have we ever had two #1Cs?

Yashin - Bonk in 00-01 was pretty solid.

Bonk was probably not quite a 1, but I could see an argument for sure.
