It's actually insane how some members of those two fan bases think Stutzle is just a result of his circumstances. As if he were in those organizations he would be buried with bottom 6 minutes and no PP time. To this day there are some that still think that. I don't know if it is in inability to recognize talent or just cope.

I think he may have a higher ceiling than McKinnon. Time will tell, but for a barely 21 year old to perform so well so early (and might I add - naturally) is indicative that we have a super-elite #1C who hasn't even reached peak performance.

Sure, it's possible, I guess what I'm getting at is imo he's not in that next tier which for me at least is the top tier with guys like McDavid, Crosby, Ovechkin, Malkin,

I'd be ecstatic if he became like MacKinnon. Nate was the best player on the ice last night and dominated the game every time he was on the ice. If Stutzle is a top 5 player in the world then we should be a yearly contender.

Also, that was a heck of a head on collision between him and Tim late in the 3rd. Glad Stutzle was alright.

I think he would be up there, but peak Karlsson was another level and was the best player in the league at his position and has the hardware to prove it. I am not sure if Stutzle can get there as the competition is stiffer with McJesus, Kucherov, Mathews, Draisaidtl in the league.

Fair but being the best center in the NHL is harder than being the best defenseman in the NHL just based on the pools of competition.

Not yet, give him a few more seasons, he will only improve, and will force the issue.
 
Stu won't touch Karl's peak but he won't be far off and will hopefully be around for much longer. Also became an elite player at a younger age.

High bar but it's not as outlandish as you would have thought 3 or 4 years ago
 
Tim Stützle is going to keep getting better and better and better until we can't stand it. This kid is the real deal. So excited about seeing what he can accomplish. We have a true superstar ready to break out.
 
Will be tough to pass EK but I think he will make a healthy run at passing Alfredsson as the best forward this team has had, and Alfie will be there mentoring him on how to do it.

He is crushing records already and will keep doing so.

Incredible skill and a higher scoring era will help as well.
