Anyone have thoughts on those fitness smart watches? I'm thinking about getting one.
What are you looking for in terms of features and what is your activity level? There are so many of them out there.

My personal favorites are the garmin fenix series, but they're mad expensive and unless you're racing or at least really active it may not be worth it.

I personally find Fitbit to be pretty good value. My biggest needs were long battery life and built-in GPS, which the Versa and Charge 5 deliver. I can go a week on one charge and the GPS works. I just spent 8 days in Europe and didn't have to charge my Fitbit once, got back home with 9% left. The GPS is not as good as the Garmin watches, but it gets the job done. They also have a pretty user friendly app to log calories and monitor your health metrics.

My least favorite by far has been my galaxy watch. The battery lasted 30 hours if that. It doesn't serve me a purpose if it's constantly dead or on the charger. I've heard apple watches are the same.

There's a guy on youtube called DesFit that really goes in depth on all these devices and puts them through the ringer to test them. I really recommend watching his reviews to find what you like.

I love some of the "older" taylor made clubs, and by older I mean like 5-10 years. Some of those irons hit like butter. I wasn't a fan of some of the newer test clubs I've used from them though. I've always been a callaway guy though, I love my xhot 2 pro 8.5 driver. I can consistently mash that thing dead straight around 300. I've had it for 8 or 9 years now and it hasn't lost any pop.

I definitely agree with start with used. You can get some good used club deals certified by Callaway. @Its Always Sundstrom check out callawaypreowned.com. I got a like new one year old 3 wood for 50% off full price and it didn't have a single scratch on it. Also just got a 60 degree lob wedge for a good price off there since I lost my vokey.

As for tips, I can't really help anyone out there. I'm not good at giving golf advice, I just go based off feel and muscle memory for myself. I have never gotten a lesson and somehow shoot pretty well. Best thing I can say is have fun! lol
You can get stared with swing instructions on YouTube. There are plenty of good ones.

Not really sure what i want in features. Heart rate is the most interesting i guess. The sleep thing is kind of interesting. GPS would be cool to see how far I skate in a particular session.

But I really dint know whats what, so i will check that guy out.

Yeah that's true definitely a lot of good resources out there

Big thing I've been focusing on the last year or so is course management and strategy. Listening to Phil talk about that stuff is crazy. There are so many factors out there you just don't normally think about lol

Definitely check some of his in-depth review videos. If you aren't someone who cares about having to have an apple/galaxy watch to match your iPhone/galaxy, I personally recommend the fitbit versa or charge series. They're good for everyday use and can hold their own during intensive training.

Now if you're a triathlete or some other type of endurance athlete go with a garmin.

a few measures left in tequila bottle from margarita binges during games..... found some white russian things on line ....all too weak on the pour recipies

do it right

this is delicious. (thanks cangy)

2 oz = tequila

2 oz = kaluha

2 oz = 18% cream

...

rocks glass... 4 or 5 one inch cube ice

add the first two in order casually, take the third, try and froth it up in whatever way (or not)

add it even more casually over the ice and the better liquids aforementioned

grate dark chocolate....85% .... go nice and hard with a few minutes in the freezer before rasping

...

ya, that's about it

Central Jersey exists.

Deal with it. (And Deal is in Central Jersey too because the Shore Toms River and north is *not* South Jersey. I even argue that LBI is not "South" Jersey because of the North Jersey/NYC influence. Once you hit the Little Egg Harbor exit, *THAT* is South Jersey. The Delaware and Atlantic sides have different places were "South" starts. It's a northwest-to-southeast border. I've put way too much thought into this.)

Yeah dude, I agree wholeheartedly. I grew up in Brick, so right next to Toms River etc. Whenever I go to SOUTH Jersey, it feels like an entirely different world.

the campus is nice if a bit of a hodgepodge of styles. The town is generic suburban. My oldest debated going there before settling on something a bit smaller.
I was a little surprised by the town. It seemed a bit run down and a lot more seedy than I expected.

My fiancee moved from North Arlington down to Brick the summer between middle and high school.

She gets *offended* at people calling Brick/TR “South” Jersey. I’m not kidding.

In my own little world, I always split up North, Central and South Jersey by these points.

The Raritan River is the North/Central border and and the Mullica River is the Central/South border.

So like the Driscoll bridge and the Mullica River bridge (over by like mile marker 50 on the parkway, about 10 or 12 miles north of the AC expressway exit) would be the points.

Thus all of Monmouth and Ocean Counties being Central Jersey and pretty much points south of LBI being South Jersey.

Of course, these are just my own personal lines and boundaries and I made them that way as a little kid reading maps. I had a nerdy quirk (And still do) with maps as a kid and that's when I declared all of these to be my own official points North/Central/South.

Being a Manasquan kid (I'm not from there, but I spent summers there as a child), I always felt it was split between NYC/Philly. I met about as many Phillies/Eagles/76ers/Flyers fans there as I did Yankees-Mets/Giants-Jets/Knicks-Nets/Rangers-Devils fans. And they also had both New York and Philly local and sports channels on standard cable down there and I know they still do, from my good friend who lives there. Same thing on LBI, but from having also spent a significant amount of time there, I find it to be more Philly dominated than NYC/North Jersey. Everything south of there is very heavily Philly.

I think we agree by the sports teams definitions, it actually makes it simple:

NJD/NY teams = North

Split with anecdotally even odds of meeting NJ/NY/PHI fans = Central

PHI teams = South

Now me, I’m the troublemaker that reps the Devils *hard* in Wildwood when we visit the fiancée’s mom.

I always wish we setup our entire farm system in the state with the ahl team in Trenton and the echl team in Atlantic city. It's all far enough away from each other to be able to be supported and then might have helped create more NJ Devils fans across the entire state.

Just a shame that we have 2 arenas with no hockey teams when they both use to have a great rivalry.

When I was growing up in Paterson anything south of RT 78/287 junction was considered South Jersey by my friends and I.

Even that lower portion of Hunterdon county like Frenchtown and Lambertville...that was the South to us. Princeton South. Sandy Hook was the start of the deep South. 😂

That was general perception up there 10 miles from the GW bridge.

just spent the last four days in Asheville NC for a bachelor party; not a big drinker but had no idea it had so many breweries and distilleries , read something saying it has the most per capita in America

All the beer was great; some names being Sierra Nevada, Hi-Lander, and a slew of others Im sure yall know better than me lol (yall? Really dude, youve been down there four days)

Awesome little city center - pretty clean and a nice, quaint feel. We had a cabin up in the mountains all by its lonesome; certainly was a trip to remember

Currently eating brunch with some mimosas at Mayfel's in downtown, if anyone has been there; great food though I dont eat spicy food and didnt see the 'Louisiana-inspired cuisine' sign so when I bit into the cornbread and it bit me back I was shocked lmfao

(And yes, that sign is pictured from my seat directly next to it. I should learn how go read huh?)

After the game tonight my brother and I went to Montclair Brewery and a pizza place across the street called Brick and Dough. Beer was pretty good, pizza was excellent. Great way to cap off a big win before driving to CT.

@JimEIV how many seconds into this before you yell at him to just pour the damn drink already?

Now don't get me wrong I greatly appreciate a skilled and knowledgeable mixologist...and I don't even mind some of the more elaborate pomp and circumstance in the appropriate setting...

But that dude looked like he was doing a Saturday Night Live skit of Cocktail because Tom Cruise is the special guest.

A short production I don't mind - a nice muddle - ok. An extra chill on the glass fine. Tossing the bottle more than 1 time? NO WAY. Wagging your finger at me like I'm the pleb? NO F'ING WAY.
