*whispers* I don’t like The Grateful Dead even a little, but the poster is from a fancy cover band of theirs. *ducks away*

Listened to Sabbath since I got the (low quality) cassette tapes from Columbia Music Club way way back in the day.
I find the Dead a bit too diffuse mosts of the time but like many I do enjoy their greatest hits and most of their cover songs are well chosen. I saw them play at Giants Stadium in maybe 1990 or something like that. They had a ton of guests including Ry Cooder and the Neville Brothers and it was enjoyable.

Black Sabbath is a gazillion times better than the Dead. Yet again, your observations are spot on.

I was totally with you guys for better than 50% of my life until I met a lifelong Head who opened his tape collection and educated me.

Yeah, if we are talking about comparing albums and a 30 song 'best of' bands, they all smoke the Dead.

But try playing 400 different songs and a ridiculous amount of concerts every year where EACH FRIGGING SETLIST IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.

don't get me wrong, I get my rocks off on whatever great band comes around and plays their top 15 greatest songs every year plus two off their new album that sux and a couple of deep cuts.... Bc they are great.

The Dead are just a different beast entirely and I've rarely listened purposely to their albums or radio songs bc... That isn't the Dead. If you guys are ever curious DM me for a couple of shows to listen to on a sunny afternoon.

It looks like I must have gone on July 10, 1989. The Nevilles played a number of songs with the Dead but I can only recall Iko Iko since it was the one song I wanted to hear and when they played it wi th thr Nevilles my brother was upset since I didn’t deserve it not being a real Dead fan.

I like Black Sabbath, pre-Dio of course. Do most people even recognize Dio Sabbath anyway?

Oh, and I can't really stand any of Ozzy's solo stuff. I always thought of it as just radio Butt Rock.

I'd much rather listen to the Dead than any Ozzy solo stuff or Dio Sabbath. I mean, some of the Dio Sabbath was okay, but it's just whatever.

Early Sabbath is some brilliantly heavy stuff, as well as production for turn of the decade 60's/70's.

Not their biggest fan, but Workingman’s Dead and American Beauty are great.

Now back to Devils stuff. Brendan Smith seems like such a good teammate that it’s worth putting up with his so-so play. I’d like Bahl in for him eventually, but he sounds like quite a guy.
Workingman's Dead is the album that introduced me to the dead

Yeah unless you're doing something that requires Windows specifically (Though you can pretty easily setup a Mac to dual-boot Windows) and / or can't afford it (Though you can get the previous year's Macs on sale / refurbished pretty easily too), I kinda always recommend Macs. Or Chromebooks if all you're doing is surfing the web. Chromebooks are hella good for that. I only recommend Windows for people who are like, I want to game. That's the only reason my main desktop is Windows.

I have seven computers in this room with me (Not counting cell phones and tablets) and not one of them will ever get Windows 11. Well, maybe my work laptop will, but that's because that's not my call.

Windows 11 is the biggest heap of trash OS since Vista and 8. Absolute piece of trash.

Fun fact: After Ozzy left, did you know that MICHAEL BOLTON was one of the singers that auditioned to be his replacement?

I’ve always thought he had a similar vocal style to Dio. I can’t really imagine him singing along to heavier music though.

I could definitely hear him singing the Sammy Hagar songs in Van Halen though.

I think I would have liked that song if it were recorded as a Motörhead song.

I can already hear Lemmy singing it. It would have been a much quicker tempo too. It would have been a way faster song and not so late 80’s ballad-y sounding.
I thought Ozzy’s first solo album was great. Randy Rhoads was very talented. The songs were fun and Crazy Train remains a well known song that even young people know and can sing along to.

I was always meh with Ozzy. Then the Ozzfest incident with Iron Maiden really turned me against him (or at least his wife). I mean, yeah, you may not like someone, but to pay people to throw eggs at them and do things like cut the audio off and on multiple times in mid-set is pretty crappy and unprofessional. I find trying to ruin a gig in front of 40,000 fans pretty unforgivable.

The 2 are completely different kinds of bands playing an entirely different type of music. Comparing them with each other is ludicrous. Which a person likes better is purely based on their taste in music.

I now just looked this up, it’s sounds completely off the rails. Wow.
