There’s no need. Everyone is leaving each other alone and it’s over and done with. I was much more annoyed and insulted by the whole ordeal than threatened.

You mean the story from last week? Or the one where I had to knock the guy out back in 2009? I would say the one from last week was pretty minor.

The one was 2009 was scary and something I really wouldn’t wanna be in again, and to this day I’ve never been in another situation like that.

The one from last week actually reminds me of something that would have happened with kids back in elementary or middle school lol.
From 2009. This kind of stories looks ridiculous until they happened with us.

Instead of a knife you should carry a lawyer. You probably have one laying around in a drawer or in the shed if you look.

in a drawer? what am i now, dahmer because i have a knife?

..on a more serious note.....i've read the knife laws in canada and as you know...it's all in the wording and interpretation of how it is written....

technically, a common flip blade is illegal if can be opened with one hand...yet there is wording on intent of why one would have it on their person. seems like 'self-defense' is not a valid reason. but that's ok. i'd only have a problem if i was searched of which they would have to have probable cause to do so. good luck finding that probable cause.

in the event of actual self defense i would be at the point of self preservation and not care of the laws of a common flip knife that anyone of age can buy at the local hardware store without ID

...and with that.....let's have some dicks hate police *i don't hate them personally but this song kicks

so good....deserves a double shot

f*** it... one more

May I ask why you would consider a 55+ community?

I know a few people that live in the Villages and a couple of people that live in Del Webb communities here in NJ. They seem to love it.

The people from the Villages rave about the amenities and activities...but I would imagine being around only older people could get a bit depressing? I don't know though?
The only reason is for a quieter neighborhood. Lesser chance (though not zero chance) of having to put up with music blasting until 6:00 AM because a bunch of drunks passed out and left the music on all night. After making a bunch of noise until 3:00 AM.

I don’t really wanna partake in any of the activities that the community really has to offer.

I’m not gonna lie, it was an adrenaline rush. Somehow I calmly walked out the door, shut it behind me. Quickly got to the truck (but not too quickly) started it up and left. Didn’t pull out of there like a madman.

The next time I came to that house to visit this woman, the homeowner (remember, the guy I had to knock out was not the homeowner or even a resident) came from the back door and wouldn’t get more than 15-20 feet from me to tell me she wasn’t home. Despite the fact that I knocked at the front door.

I was never going to harm that guy though. He was much older and wasn’t the one standing in my way trying to prevent me from leaving.

The lake is crazy high and the beach I usually drag my kayak on is underwater. So I happened to have some Paracord and I tied it off to the dock. It was there overnight. Still there in the morning. Went out in my dad's boat a while. Came back to the dock and my kayak is floating free about 10 feet from the dock. Total dumb luck that I got back right after it broke free. But I'm pissed at the shitty cord that frayed through after one night and half a day tied to the dock....

It frayed from rubbing on the dock? Was there a sharp edge on the dock? Was it tied to a cleat? I'm surprised paracord broke through so easily.... there's 7 strands on the inside plus the sheath.

At least you didn't lose your boat.

I think it was just shit rope they called "Paracord". It literally frayed on the smooth metal tie down in my kayak. To be fair, the waves were big last night. But I would not have expected that to happen, even if it is crap rope and not real Paracord.

in 2000 i was on a camping trip....there were 8 canoes (16 people total)...

3 day/2 night trip.....the final morning at breakfast someone's canoe (who was still sleeping) got into the water and was being wind swept away into georgian bay.... me and some other guy on the trip (who i never met before this weekend) ran and jumped another canoe and raced it down...

we got it.....but the problem was the wind was waaaay too strong to make the journey back

there were two options.

let ourselves be pushed south with zero chance or paddle like madmen to a small rocky island dead east...... we made it there and then proceeded to be stuck there for about 8 hours in a bitter cold wind with nothing but these 2 canoes and a small shelter of a 4' rock face to break the wind (no spinal tap joke here)

it sucked so hard.....as the time passed hours on waiting for the wind to lessen energy levels were gone from being cold for so long....

eventually a couple of other people made their way over when weather calmed down and took us back...

i was so pissed...

so ya, i learned my lesson.....next time i see a boat going off and i'm around i wont be so hero to help

i'll be nelson from simpsons ....haha

and continue enjoying my breakfast and coffee.... a whole brutal day sitting on a rock ...a good samaritan gets f***ed....it was not worth it

(but my fault not realizing the conditions and my limitations)

@Bleedred

Not sure how close to the water you are up there but stay safe dude.

I'd say the same, but from reading the last few pages it sounds like he has more to worry about from his crazy ass neighbors! :sarcasm:

Seriously though, wish you all the best @Bleedred
I'm pretty close to the gulf, though I should be alright, aside from some winds and a ton of rain.

Fishing has been tough the first couple days, and the wind is annoying, but I can't fault much else. Beautiful sleeping weather and glorious views.

They are canceling classes at U of FL for the next two days
That's about 150+ miles north of me. The projected landfall will be closer to Gainesville than to me.

It should be 100 or more miles out to sea when it passes me. I'll get a bunch of rain and wind though.

I made my son move the car to a higher floor and the middle of the parking garage. His dorm room is on the second floor so he should be ok. He’s also not in a low spot on campus.

I'm in a pretty good spot where I'm on the coast, but I think I'm 18-30 feet above sea level at my house. There's a little league baseball field behind my house and you can see the significant drop down into the baseball field. I'm almost on a mini hill behind it.

That field seems to get flooded whenever a good rain comes through.

It’s important all that water has somewhere to go. You should be fine. If the winds kick up do you have any bug threatening trees?

I've got a big one in the front yard, but it's still pretty sturdy. I keep both vehicles parked in the garage during these types of storms, though if it's not too bad then I'll likely be at work.

The pool may overflow a little bit and flood my patio out a bit, but all the outdoor furniture gets put inside.

Don’t you have a dog? You should try to be home during the storm or at least get her some tranquilizers from the vet.
