I don't see a fit. He's clearly worth less than Sergachev and clearly worth more than McCarron/Scherbak. Unless one team wants to take quantity for quality, I can't see it.

After Chabot, our best defense prospect is Andreas Englund. If we're lucky, Englund becomes a second pair guy.

Our NHL depth on the left side is Methot, Phaneuf, Borowiecki, and Claesson. Methot and Phaneuf are both 31, and Methot is likely left unprotected and selected in the expansion draft. Borowiecki and Claesson are not guys you want in your top 4 so we will need a replacement.

We are pretty deep at forward at both the NHL level and in the minors/juniors, so a forward for Chabot doesn't make sense unless it's an extreme overpayment.

Our NHL RHD are Karlsson(26), Ceci(22), and Wideman(26). A young group that will hopefully be here for a while, so we're not really desperate for a RHD prospect at the moment.

We don't really need goalie prospects since we have four or five, and goalies are pretty much random in which ones turn out, Also not really a need.

The biggest immediate hole on our roster is the left side of our top 4 defense, which is exactly where Chabot is projected to end up. So if we are losing Chabot, we need to get a LHD back who would be ready to play in the NHL fairly soon, with potential to be at the very least a second pair guy.

The only Habs prospect that fits the criteria for what the Sens need, is Sergachev, and that's not happening. Trading Chabot makes no sense for Ottawa right now unless they are A) pushing for the cup, or B) getting a better LHD prospect

Yes to Sergachev because he will make an impact faster. No to Juulsen + Scherbak even if the value is (almost) there (however I have no faith in Scherbak), but not looking at downgrading assets (and seriously, Sens don't need forward prospects right now unless it's a blue chip 1st liner)

funny hearing those last few posts. I would take McCarron and Juulsen over Chabot. Chabot went 18th in 2015 and likely would have gone close to that in 2016.

whoa now. hold on . are we talking about us picking up that number 1 pairing guy on team canada with all the leadership and nastiness, for that guy who fought with nine different teammates in 7 years and led the league in giveaways. that current gm showed he had the kahaunas to make such a trade as well. being a former nhl defenseman gives him a slightly more knowledgeable insight on the matter. will see if pk can get to xmas without a run in with a teammate.
