It was Berube who was the coach tbat got the best out of Dunn to reach his potential as a 60+ point defenseman right?

I'm sure he'll do the same with Liljegren here as he did to Dunn in St Louis.

Depends on his value. Letting him go for nothing is pointless. I don't think he gets you a 2nd but maybe a late one in a weak draft? Still perhaps a bit of cachet from the draft status but that has got to be almost done I think. It might be his time, especially as part of a bigger deal. One more weak year and he is basically worthless but he is worth more than a 4th.

Everybody might look different under a new coach, even whipping boys like Brodie and JT. Running back Keefe this year seems like a truly stupid decision as there are a number of players they might be moving on from that could have shown might not have been a fit for the system/opportunities.

My hope is that another club places a high enough value on him that losing him makes sense.

No, I don't. I tend to realistically rate the players on the team I root for unlike most other fans who tend to exhibit bias towards club players.

He was a regular this year. The only games he missed were due to injury.
6 of 7 games this year is ‘regular’.
Advanced metrics showed the Sandin-Liljegren third pairing being one of the best in the NHL; it was reported here constantly.

They should have no issues getting a nice return for him then.

Feels like he kinda hit his stride in the 2nd half of the season. I was never on the Robertson hype train but he might become an effective 3rd liner.

If Tre pays those numbers he’s as stupid as Dubas, and imo will prove it was his idea to sign Nylander to that awlful contract in January instead if waiting till the offseason……

McCabe and Benoit are pieces we should hold on to. I’m also in the “keep Rielly” camp. Lyubushkin is fine if his contract ask isn’t too big.

We need a PP QB and a Muzzin replacement. Both in the same player is optimal, as that pushes Rielly into the #2 role, but those players are of course hard to find.

Frankly, I think our defence is the least of our problems right now.

Muzz replacement - PPQB
McCabe - Benoit

When down you could run Rielly - PPQB

When up you could run Muzz replacement - McCabe

Ideally the PPQB would be average at defence, even slightly below average, just not whatever the f*** Barrie was

I’d like to think Styles’ deal was all Shanahan’s doing, but we’ll find out soon enough if Tre is as stupidly generous as Dubas in the coming weeks……..

If they keep running it back sooner or later their going to run out if fresh faces to surround the core with, not sure, but someone estimated more than 70 fringe players have already come and gone……..

Let’s get this straight….The Leafs should sign Bertuzzi let’s say $4.5-5.5 million per year for 21 goals in 80 games with 16 min avg of ice time per game.

Then sign Max Domi for about the same around $4-5 million per year for 9 goals in 80 games with 13 min avg ice time per game

And look to trade Nick Robertson who will sign most likely around $1.5-3 million as RFA for 14 goals scored in 56 games with avg ice time of 11 minutes?

That is the worst asset management possible, sign Robertson and put him on the top 6 to see what he can do, look at what Dallas has done with his brother Jason Robertson who is doing well with the Stars.

Leafs should keep Robertson he is still young and cost control and shows he can score.

Easier said then done when marners at 10.9 you either reset the bar with him and 600k more or you get taken to the bacc of the woodshed by marner again at minimum 12.5 he chose 600k and I'd argue he made a better choice
