Timmins played how many minutes in the playoffs?
Would anyone notice if they waived him?

Confirmed with link

"It’s a measure of EveryDefenseManOnTeam’s fallen stock that, despite being a much-valued right-shot defenseman. EveryDefenseManOnTeam is likely to be included in any trade for a better blueliner. On a true Stanley Cup contender, EveryDefenseManOnTeam is a third-pair option, and Toronto has more than enough of those types of D-men on the roster. His time as a Leaf is probably done."

Name a defender on the team that makes you go "UNTOUCHABLE"?

Very probably not coming back:

Mitch Marner ;)
Until proven otherwise, don't expect anything.

If they had an ounce of brains they'd realize you can't win a Stanley Cup in the Cap era when you have more than one $11M/year winger on your team but winning the Stanley Cup hasn't been their primary objective for years now, it's being politically correct and staying profitable.

McCabe and Benoit are pieces we should hold on to. I’m also in the “keep Rielly” camp. Lyubushkin is fine if his contract ask isn’t too big.

We need a PP QB and a Muzzin replacement. Both in the same player is optimal, as that pushes Rielly into the #2 role, but those players are of course hard to find.

Frankly, I think our defence is the least of our problems right now.

Not least, we need a couple of free agents.

Both Robertson and Liljegren not coming back would just add to the lengthy list of talented Maple Leafs draftees over the decades who came with hype, but never delivered or developed properly.
Liljegren has lived up to expectations.

sorry you didn't like my answer, how giving Robertson a legitimate shot instead of sporadic play?
It's not that I disliked your answer, it was just wrong.

I completely agree on Robertson though.

Take these names with a grain of salt. Hard to imagine they would move on from Robertson and Liljegren in one offseason. Same goes for Bert and Domi. It's likely one of them will be a leaf.

Domi's agent said his client is looking for $6 mil per season... ...

Robertson feels like someone we should be trying to keep more. He is going to be cost-effective and likely hits 20 goals next year.

Feels like he kinda hit his stride in the 2nd half of the season. I was never on the Robertson hype train but he might become an effective 3rd liner.

LOL body language, I get a picture is a snapshot in time, but Berube with arms crossed and Mitch with his eyes in a submissive position. Conversation went like this:

Berube: I need a shot blocking dman to play all his time on the PK and against the best players on the other team. That is going to be you.. you gonna waive your NMC now tough guy?

In his latest piece for The Athletic, Lebrun states that Domi's agent, Judd Moldaver and the Leafs have already had conversations with the Maple Leafs "expressing mutual interest in getting a deal done. But no numbers exchanged yet." he wrote.

LeBrun opines that five or six-year deal in the $5-6 million range gets the deal done, but does that fit with Toronto's plans?

It sounds like that's LeBrun's opinion, not a quote from Domi's agent. If he truly is asking for $5-6 million, he can go play somewhere else. He'll overplay his hand, and still be available in August....

People floated the idea of Marner to LV for Shea Theodore, McNabb, + , while those are two really good dmen they are both UFA's in a year.

OK , they said on SDPN that it was his agent who said it directly.

So is Marner... so kind of fair I'd suppose...

You would think intelligent management on both sides, would talk with the players involved to discuss extensions, before making such a trade....

Fair enough... I mean, if that's what they want... good luck with whomever pays that. You'd think after his multiple stops, constantly moving and one year contracts... where nobody wanted him back, that if he found a fit, and a team that wanted him back, the security of some term would be more important than trying to make bank... and he's not anywhere near worth $6 million... He'll end up taking a one year deal with a number that starts with a TWO in August at that rate.

I think LV is looking to dump cap, it is almost a wash in salaries if it is Theodore, McNabb, + for Marner

I think it'll be a mistake if they move off of Robertson prematurely.

While he definitely has warts to his game and his defensive detail is laughably bad at times he showed he can at minimum be a depth scorer going forward for the team. He really feels like one of those guys if we let him go he'll go on to score 30+ with another team in a bigger role.

Couldn't care less if I see Liljegren or Timmins in a Leaf uniform again.

Robertson is in a funny position where he’s not exactly worth keeping or giving away. Like there’s no bother having him continue to develop, but you’re also not sure it’s going to be so great. In this case it might be better to just err on the side of caution and do thing.

Theodore - $5.2
McNabb - $2.85
Nicolas Roy - $3

$11.05

Marner

$10.903

That would see us with a lot of LD..... unless we traded some away.

With all this talk of dumping Lilly and Robertson...

Lilly is only 25years old people. 25... Still worth it to hold on to him. He has been around for a long time because he played on the Marlies when NA players his age were still in JR. Dmen take longer. I don't think he will explode and become a 1st line pairing dman. He can even out his game and become a solid 2nd pair guy at a reasonable price, then that's gold as a RDman.

Robertson I would like to keep as well. He isn't a large man who hits a lot like our new coach is known to prefer but, that shot. Kid could score 20 from the third line with a little quality PP time.

We have to let players develop. It takes time and players need maturity.

I still think Domi will sign for cheaper than is reported, if not move on. I like the player, I like to story even more. Can't overpay to keep him though.

Bert, I'm fine with letting him go especially considering we paid him 5.5 and he would get a raise! He is a 20-20 man Leafs can't afford that IMO.

I liked Edmonson and would like to see the Leafs make and attempt to keep him at a reasonable price. Give him some of Brodies' money but, only some.

I like Max, but not at 6 million, and not for 6 years. 4 years, $4 million is more than fair for him.

Lilly was drafted almost 7 years ago and this is all he is It's time.

It would leave us with a lot of LD for sure, I think McCabe and Theo are lefties that can play right side. I dont mind that trade TBH if we can lock up the two defenders for a 3 to 4 more years at a reasonable cap hit. I think they both have NMC or NTC too.

They (LV) got a 3rd line center, Stephenson, who is a UFA who would be a serious upgrade over Kampft.

Add Sarros, Theodore, McNabb, Roy, Stephenson and call it a day. :D

For sure. He can score a bit, works hard, and shouldn't be overly expensive. Can play in a couple spots through the middle of the lineup as well.

Also he is still only 22, should be plenty of room to grow through his next contract.
