But this is why he is not a take over the game player. Yes there are guys like Shanny or Hull that were big players who carried the puck little but the best players can carry the puck, with control and also score not one dimensional.

He doesn't need to take over the game. He needs to score goals.

For as good as Nash was yesterday, I don't think he "took over the game" either.

gaborik scored 41 goals last year and if i am not mistaken at least half of those were tieing or go ahead goals.

how many players have score 100 goals in the last 3 years?

Is he perfect? no... goal scorers are streaky, its been like that since the beginning of time. And when they are not scoring they look bad. Deal with it.

I know we will get better but systematically we have never been a great offense but we have the pieces in place to be great. What upsets me is I have been watching hockey the past few days like everyone else and I see competent hockey teams playing each other but our games have been downright ugly and lopsided. We cant just rely and being the best defense with the best goalie, we need to be able to put pressure on the best teams in the league.

You clearly haven't been watching the Detroit Red Wings. Rangers will be fine.

I won't refute that other teams look better right now, but your perception of reality is very different when you're watching a team that you're emotionally involved with. The Rangers have some kinks to work out, clearly. I'm not terribly concerned though. They have the talent to make noise in the playoffs. Just get there.

Yes, but what concerns me is that we want more than noise this year, we want the cup. They will work out the kinks but it just seems like the underlying scoring problems still persist. I blame coaching on that. They need to shoot the puck more and stop looking for the perfect play

We will lose next two to BOS in regulation and to PHI in SO. This is not a good team, which is normal given the fact that Anisimov and Dubi were replaced with some spare parts that are out of shape and out of the system.

Lol.

And we bring Prince Chad back as well.

I'll miss Dubi's 10 goals and his 4.2 mil contract.

Dubi looked good last night from what I saw in the 3rd in CBJ vs. Det.

I'm happy to have Nash and like/love his power style.

Was nice to see 17 and 42 in CBJ playing well.;)

Tortorella stifles creativity

makes players play nervous

not beneficial for kreider

0-2 isnt as big of a deal as alot of people think...but nyr looks exactly the same...its as if the plan is to just hold on in each game and be barely good enough to win..the rangers never attack and rarely have sustained control of the puck

havent looked good since the first few minutes of playoff game 1 when it was 3-0, lots of bad minutes in between then and now

(yes im saying rangers looked bad in the playoffs even when they won)

some type of creativity is needed with the puck

the powerplay is bad because they make station to station passes with no quick 1-2 combo passes

Yeah his system really shut Kreider down in the playoffs.

I don't think Torts' system is necessarily the problem. I think if there's a problem with Torts, it's his mule-like stubbornness.

When his system or a part of his system has obviously been exploited, he refuses to adjust. I think that has alot to do with us having trouble with the same teams over and over.

You can't collapse against the Penguins. I don't know how many bastings we have to take from them before he realizes this.

Rick Nash is a spare part?

Maybe it's just players who haven't played together playing against elite teams who went largely unchanged?

im not saying this is the start to a losing season..i still think NYR will be a top 5 team in east

But if the rangers are to win the cup it will be because we scratched out 16 wins and beat teams with way more firepower
