I do find it funny York is running PP1 again. I guess the wheel landed on his name this time.

Sanheim is outscoring every pair of Flyers defensemen sans Walker and is ~top 10 in the league in 5v5 scoring and hasn't sniffed the PP in weeks. Not that he was anything more than a bit piece when he was on it the last time but their process is terrible.

I'm sitting here just thinking about how the Flyers will screw this up.
We're one month out from Wrestlemania, so the Flyers are going to prep us for that with Ownrentalmania.

I swear to God, if they had to board up a window, and someone offered them a hammer or wet linguine, they'd be slapping at nails with pasta.

You have Eichel who asked out of a dysfunctional organization despite them having contract control over. What was the last before that Tavares as a UFA & older than Eichel?

It’s pretty few in between a star caliber center moves. Petersson nearly did recently but that was Carolina apparently making an offer I doubt most teams would make including the Flyers but he ultimately signed when Vancouver gave him the option to either sign now or be traded.

Even winger it seems few in between as well. You had Tkachuk whose situation is probably closer to Eichel at least in terms of age/contract control. Then what Panarin as an older 20 UFA like Tavares.

It seems like if it’s going happen you basically needs those scenarios with guys who are playing with smaller market &/or dysfunctional organizations otherwise must guys just stay with their current teams.

Basically, yeah, that’s what you’re waiting for.

Also, lol. It's times like this I like to remember the words of our dear leader,

‘You just can’t fall in love’,” Tortorella concluded. “You can’t because if you do, it’s going to set you back. We’ve got to look at the organizational view of how to do this. You’ll be friends with that player if you like him that much. You’ll be friends and you’re gonna care about him the rest of your life, but there has to be– there’s going to be some tough decisions coming along here. So, we gotta be really careful to not let our emotions get in the way of making the proper decision for the team.”

I dont hate if it is 3x3, still doesn't make it right tho.

It’ll only be acceptable if Walker shipped out and Risto is traded this off-season.

If it is that?

Must have been zero negotiation or awful negotiation.

Because that is at very, very top-end of what is possible... not value... but what is possible at all in terms of players that level and contracts.

And I like Seeler.

Does it change the calculation here when you consider how little NHL games Seeler has under his belt? I.e despite his play style, he should in theory age better than what you’d see in a comp.

If you can't trade him because he's hurt, just sing him instead

Charlie essentially said on his podcast yesterday they know there’s a decent chance this contract ages poorly on ice but they don’t care because of the intangibles.

Not really.

Most 2nd and 3rd tier players fall off at ~32 not due to how many games played... but by physiological decline. Very few humans dont start to decline at age ~32-34, because knowledge and not losing any strength do not make up for the loss of fast twitch muscles, which mean your reaction times slow, your speed (especially acceleration) drops off...

because if you are on the margins of the league to begin and lose ~5-10% of ability? You fall out of the level required very, very quickly.

not many #5-6 Dmen who were never #3-4 level ever make it to age ~33-34 in this league.
