That’s fine with me. 2027 is basically what they’re telling people.

People screaming about what Chicago did as if they decided on a rebuild and gutted the whole team 30 seconds later. No, it took them over a year. And that was without not having their own 1st in 2021.

I don’t want to put words in your mouth, but it appears you’re trying to start the timer from the beginning of 2021-22. They were still trying to contend with an on-the-fly retooling in 2021-22. The Flyer parallels are nearly perfect.

Davidson had the interim tag removed in March 2022 and the rebuild kicked off late in that season. By July 2022, they had acquired

Tampa’s 2023 1st
Tampa’s 2024 1st
Minnesota’s 2022 2nd with a chance to convert it to their 1st
2022 13OA + a 3rd
2022 7OA
2022 39OA
2022 25OA (with 38OA going out)

Plus other random picks and post-hype fliers like Katchouk.

So hopefully what you’re trying to say is wait for the off-season to unfold. If so, fair enough. Otherwise this makes no sense.

Not having their own first is likely what delayed things. Davidsons first draft he traded away a very good top 6 forward and a former first round pick in order to gain two first rounders in the same draft along with additional picks. I’d even say they saw Bedard coming up as an opportunity and made sure to position themselves accordingly.

There has been a clear indication that any and all possible deals that brought them additional draft capital will be considered and accepted. That was the sole purpose of these deals. It wasn’t because the coach didn’t like DeBrincat.

Multiple reports have indicated and a few trades have shown the Flyers aren’t using the same thought process, which people are rightly pointing out is not a good sign for future success.

The pick they traded to the Flyers (51) was for taking (and playing) Tyler Johnson from TB and giving Seabrooks contract

I don't feel the Dach trade in particular gets nearly as much credit as it should. The degree of difficulty was extraordinarily high. And they nailed it.

Second toughest difficulty to the Tkachuk trade in years for me.
A rebuilding team giving up a young center for a high draft pick. Was f***ing beautiful. It took some stones to come in and say we think Montreal likes this guy more than we do so we are going to take the value. No surprise a team like Colorado did the same this year.

Important to note the difference in front offices there, because this “new era of orange” is just a rearranging of the deck chairs. The internal player evaluations during this rebuild remain the same from when Fletcher and Scott were here. Though I guess it’s fair to say they’ve soured on Hodgson and Mayhew. The Flyers are much closer to being the team that pays their draft capital for Dach than the one trading him.

They turfed their retool when Bowman got fired, which was early in that season. If Fletcher was fired in October instead of March, this is a different timeline. That was when the Blackhawks decided they were entering rebuild.

This is frankly ridiculous. I know you follow things with effort and understand the machinations of contract length, league years, and the like.

Bowman resigned over the sexual assault issues. They were 0-4-1 at the time of the change. They made zero trades that season that could be considered a sale before March 2022.

Fletcher being fired in October isn't changing much. They'd still be catering to Tortorella instead of getting maximum value and maximum talent. The only change is that JVR probably gets moved.

We are at a crossroads. I'm willing to give Danny B this year to change things. It doesn't seem like most of you are.

They've at least publicly acknowledged they need to rebuild.
In my view its not about Briere. Its about the flyers. As long as Tortorella, Flahr, all pro scouts most trainers and development people are here we are the same franchise as before.

IF we would have fired all the people who have make the flyers what they are the last 10 years and signed new people with new way s, ideas and concepts i would give Briere 3 years. Without a doubt!

We havent done shit!

Tortorella is the evil! Is more dino than Clarke.
Development is horrible with Morin, Schulz and facepuncher.
We are already seeing what the franchise thinks how they want to operate. Leclair i belive has the same Agent than Torey Krug. They wanted to talk him into waiving his notrade. Cause they are all a huge family. We are the flyers. We know anyone. We have the best Network in hockey. We are so nice people and you can be a flyer forever. Our President is the well liked human being in hockey. Come join our dick parade.....

I cant believe this shit.....

We only trading the assets we trade because Tortorella dont want this players here. And most fans think we are going a new way! The new way is the old way. But Tortorella is changed with Clarke! STUPID

MITCHKOV WILL BE HANDLED LIKE ZHERDEV!

IT WILL BE NASTY

That was obviously no small consideration, but that was still when they decided to rebuild. How many trades get done in this league between the start of the season and the trade deadline?

You’ve recently spoken about how it’s functionally equivalent to hold onto some of the Flyers’ assets until the deadline when someone may overpay. And you’re absolutely correct about that, especially in regard to truly premium assets like Konecny.

So why don’t the Blackhawks get the same benefit of the doubt? Why are we measuring raw days rather than inflection points like trade deadlines and league years?

Hendrix Lapierre and 2024 1st for TK?

Because changing the GM the week after the season begins and changing the GM the week after the trade deadline is not at all the same.

Holding on to players with term for the TDL is a losing game, max return is on expiring contracts, b/c many PO teams don't want to deal with out years when they're near the cap every season - they want to audition the player then decide if they should resign them.

So if you're trading TK or Laughton, the summer is the best time.
Hart, depends on him being exonerated.
Sanheim, you have two days then it becomes tricky.

If he really done that, he is unable to be our GM. Give him away is stupid as hell.
I agree 100%. Having flexibility also means not forcing a move when your asset is way undervalued. This team just cannot get out of their own way by deciding and broadcasting what they are going to do and doing it despite losing heavily on the exchange. Get your cap savings elsewhere by trading players for whom other franchises will pay well. Let Sanheim (hopefully) rebound and each season makes him more enticing by being more affordable.

If they think Sanheim has peaked, and will decline after 30, they're looking at him taking PT from younger D-men when they're not competitive, and being an albatross when they are competitive (when he's 31-34).
Sanheim is a 2nd pair D-man who has shown he can't carry a pair, his best play has come with Braun, he's not the ideal partner for a young RHD.

He's easily the most overrated Flyer by people on this board, who are enthralled by his skating in the neutral zone and ignore his limitations at both ends of the ice (not very physical in the D-zone, not a finisher in the O-zone).

The market has spoken, teams would jump on a 27 year old #2/#3 D-man on a 8x6 contract. So he's perceived more as a #4.

I suspect "give away" means settle for a 2nd rd pick.

They should be looking to flood the team with as much talent as possible, not worrying about keeping bottom six tier players who won't be here when the team might be good. But that's not their thing right now.

It’s odd that’s even a debate. It seems pretty logical. 2024 is unlikely to be 2023, but they have hit the last two drafts and can hopefully be a high lottery pick for their own 1st. Flyguy said the 2024 draft is dman heavy. We could be in good shape by next summer even if we trade Hart and TK for multiple 2024 1sts and 2nds. Already lost a 2nd to pick the goalie.

I can’t see how this is a bad thing at all. What use to the blackhawks have for a 20-40 goal scorers the last or next few years. None? Then trade them! It’s easy
