Wait, so Shaw can magically transform Ristolainen into a good player but there's nothing he can do for Sanheim?
IDK what Shaw can do for him unless he can get Sanheim to change his personality. Sanheim has the skills and physique to be a real good defenseman . However TS doesn't seem to have that mean streak in him that a top grade defenseman needs to have in order to be successful. It makes him quite a tantalizing enigma. So the question is how does Sanheim get a little Gudas into his game. If that were to happen, he'd be a very good player.

Dreger already laying the groundwork for a Sanheim trade. It's going to be a pick swap.
A canucks fan on twitter responded with Sanheim + 22 for Garland + 11.... if the Canucks add a 3rd rounder to that (they have multiple 3rds and no 2nds) then... hell, i think i'd be okay with that. I wouldn't love it, but i'd be okay with it. I'm actually coming around to the opinion that if they can land a HAUL for Sanheim, then they should make a deal. Otherwise, i hate the idea of unloading him for cap reasons.

I don't see Vancouver giving up another lottery pick, but maybe?

Trade TK and Laughton. Stop waiting until after the right time to make the trade. Get 1sts and move on.

What’s Garland worth in a flip?

Bottom line for me… This is not a real rebuild if Laughton is a Flyer tomorrow. Dumping the 3-4 guys torts hates is not rebuilding. Danny is a bottom, and Torts tells him who he’s ok moving. Torts has visions of sneaking into the playoffs with coots, Atkinson, TK, Laughton, etc. and being hailed a genius for taking a rebuild team to the playoffs.

Please prove me wrong today and I will happily eat crow
The bolded can’t be stressed enough

I think they could be looking to move up better than Washington. I want Michkov no doubt, but it kind of seems like he could be ours unless Washington will move up.

Not happening. Ask yourself - why were they trying to trade for and keep Krug? Why is Keith Jones running around telling everyone they will be competitive sooner than later? Why are they trading Torts dog house guys and not the players that actually have real value?

The answer is- this is a fake rebuild. They are not tanking nor rebuilding. They want to be competitive and maybe actually sneak in a playoff run. This is Fletcher retool 2.0.

Then how come Fox, Makar, and Karlsson are successful? I don't buy that personality is his issue. Risto has the "right" personality and loads of raw talent and he sucks ass

He’s telling people that because people still need to want to come to games. That’s why they don’t really want to move Laughton or Konecny.

Makar has such a mean streak.

Laughton's best suitor was likely St. Louis. As Armstrong said, he talked to Briere about a hole to fill (3C) and then they went back and forth. Armstrong likely wanted Laughton and offered a late 1st, but Briere so very desperately needed to move Hayes and wanted to keep Laughton that he likely offered 50% Hayes at a bargain basement price - managing to get no value for the retention slot and likely killing the best Laughton offer in one fell swoop.

I don't have proof for this, but the leaks and statements seem to line up too much for this not to make sense.

I'll be amazed if Laughton moves.
