Anything interesting in 32 Thoughts podcast? Don’t have time to listen right this minute.
The Trotz interview was interesting in a historical sense. He talked about how long he had his eye on Kimmo, and how they were able to get him as a throw in.

Also discussed lining up with his expansion Nashville team against an Avs starting six of

Forsberg-Sakic-Deadmarsh
Bourque-Foote
Roy

If Sanheim is traded he better return a 1st. He’s better than Provorov.
He's better, but his huge contract isn't as easy to deal with for a lot of teams.

 lol, he's not better but you can believe that if it makes you feel better. Sanheim's contract is an albatross. I would love a 2nd rounder this year for him and that may get a deal done. Don't hold your breath though.

Should have been, as you said, for the right team.
Obviously, the "right team"' never materialized.

I had him at a 2nd or 3rd with Scandella and 50% retained. That's more like a 4th or 5th value without the contract dump.
Better than Johansen got at $4M.

Teams are being more careful with cap this offseason, they're not paying to dump salary, but they're not getting takers to pay for veterans on "bargain" deals either. Hall is a better player than Hayes or Johansen, but Boston was happy to dump 2yr/$6M for nothing. We dumped 3yr/$3.5M. Nashville dumped 2yr/$4M.

The market has ruled. Long live the market!
It's okay to admit you were wrong.

ASF seems to think the Flyers might get to a point where they essentially give away Sanheim to clear the contract. He doesn’t seem to think they’re trading Konecny or Laughton at this point either.
Briere was overruled by Torts who apparently has way more control than any coach ever should. This is an enormous problem.

It seems as though most of the Flyers fans on this board do not care for John Tortorella in the slightest, yet the GM and President of all Hockey Operations like Tort's and his assessments.
I have been saying for a great number of years that this roster needs to be blown up, and the core players need to be dumped. What occurred during the horrific years while Hextall then Fletcher were calling the shots have this entire franchise under the weight of a strangling salary cap woe that will take some serious chopping to weed out the problems of the contracts awarded by the previous two G.M.'s who were brutal.
It seems to me that Danny Briere-Keith Jones- and John Tortorella discussed after the end of last year's horrific ending, which players should be dealt and who should be kept.
When G.M. Briere stated that the Flyers were "open for business", that statement alone meant that no player was on the "protected" list.
When making trades to rid the team of atrocious contracts like Hayes or Sanheim, that means the return from the trades will look as though the Flyers were fleeced, but the fact of the matter is that they are truly trying to lessen the salary cap difficulties caused by the previous two G.M.'s.
Trading players who actually have some legitimate talent (Carter Hart-Scotty Laughton-Travis Konecny), will be needed if they are to secure a better level of draft picks, or a decent prospect in the exchange. That is why I am prepared to let it all happen.
I like John Tortorella, I've liked him since his time when he was the HC of the NY Rangers. I always thought of him as a Flyers coach who was with the opposition. Now that he's here I want the current management staff to listen to him and value his assessments.
Tort's has always been called a veteran's coach, but that's simply not true. He expects the most out of each veteran player, and he wants all of his players to concentrate on the complete ice surface, not just from the blue line to the goal. When Tort's sees his younger players understanding his approach, yet the vets only want to play "their" game instead of Tort's, that's where the trouble starts, and that's when Tort's benches veteran players with huge salaries.
I am ready to get rid of the veteran players to bring in young players.
Am I expecting the Flyers to be a playoff team next season? No!
However I want to see the team playing on the same page of the play book.
I'm delighted that Provorov and Hayes are gone, and I truly expect additional players to go next (especially that horrible DeAngelo, whom the the Flyers should have never acquired in the first place).
Let Briere and his management staff do their deals, and enable their HC to direct the new roster before throwing shade on this new management staff. The franchise has been bollocks for well over a decade, and it won't be corrected immediately.
Have some patience, and remember to bleed Orange & Black!

With Torts, there's two scenarios playing out right now:

- He's coaching as if he's trying to compete still, which isn't what we want.
- He's coaching as if he's trying to step into our management after this coaching gig is done

Both are awful and I'm discouraged. If he's going to be actively killing trades whether due to how he uses players, or if he's telling Briere that they can't be traded, I'm going to slide back into a pit.

I'm horrified at the thought that if someone like Benson is at 7, Briere will pass because a dope like Torts will say so. And forget about Michkov...Torts will fine Michkov the moment he steps foot on US soil.

Sometimes he's not coaching at all.

Bottom line for me… This is not a real rebuild if Laughton is a Flyer tomorrow. Dumping the 3-4 guys torts hates is not rebuilding. Danny is a bottom, and Torts tells him who he’s ok moving. Torts has visions of sneaking into the playoffs with coots, Atkinson, TK, Laughton, etc. and being hailed a genius for taking a rebuild team to the playoffs.

Please prove me wrong today and I will happily eat crow

This is exactly how i'm feeling today. Torts is running the show and wants this team as competitive as possible while only getting rid of players he hates.
