Sanheim is not a #2, if he were, teams would be talking Briere's ear off trying to nab him, b/c $6M is a bargain for a 27 year old #2.
He's a 2nd pair D-man who's probably maxed out his talent.
A solid starter, but when Winnipeg balks at giving #18, and they're desperate to find players who will accept exile to the Canadian Siberia, then you know some people on this board have an exaggerated opinion of Sanheim.
more likely he's going to 2nd or 3rd round picks, he's not going to get provy type of assets, there's a reason why he never got bumped to the first line, york will probably get a big haul because he can defend and score, that's what teams want.

You know, with all the talk of leaks and what we know about Jonesy, I wonder if he just f***ing with everyone and telling people BS. That seems like something he would do.

The way this board talks about Kevin Hayes would make anyone think they got TK for a 6 round pick.

People here would be livid if the Flyers acquired Kevin Hayes and replaced Morgan Frost or etc for 3rd C.

No one here cares about or wants Hayes on the team. It’s the dog shit return and waste of retention spot for nothing.

If the coach wasn’t a :eek::eek::eek:, there would be no need to panic for pick not even in this draft.

There are no centers in UFA, wait a week and see if the offers go up.

You guys continue to complain about the return but the value Boston got back for Taylor Hall and Ryan Johansen clearly illustrated there wasn't a lot of value to be return from Hayes. If Kevin Hayes stayed on this team you guys would complain that Briere did nothing and "he could have at least got a lotto pick".

Please tell me what competing teams are wanting to acquire a 31 year old 3rd line center at 3.5 million and give up quality assets to do so?

I have yet to see a good argument why Kevin Hayes would command a premium asset over Ryan Johansen or why there was a market for Kevin Hayes (other than there's 19 teams out there and that he would waive his NTC).

Bottom line for me… This is not a real rebuild if Laughton is a Flyer tomorrow. Dumping the 3-4 guys torts hates is not rebuilding. Danny is a bottom, and Torts tells him who he’s ok moving. Torts has visions of sneaking into the playoffs with coots, Atkinson, TK, Laughton, etc. and being hailed a genius for taking a rebuild team to the playoffs.

Please prove me wrong today and I will happily eat crow

Yup. Trading TDA, and Hayes is irrelevant. So goes for Provorov as he wanted out himself.

If they move TK, and Laughton. Yeah it’s a rebuild.

Otherwise this is Hextall retool part 2

Here's an interesting situation.
Hanifan (LHD) has one year left in Calgary, they just signed Weegar long-term, they may not want to pay Hanifan big bucks.
So if they get a haul for Hanifan, they might want to turn around and trade for Sanheim, getting cost certainty.

So far it seems less a rebuild and more like the director of accounting got promoted to Vice President and is firing or transferring people from another department he didn't like or get along with.

For all the Torts not being involved in 'player stuff' BS, he's obviously now in a position where he has more influence and say in this 'new regime'. When you have a veteran coach and fire the GM and then bring in basically a 'rookie' GM there's almost no situation in sports where that veteran coach hasn't gained power internally.

Hanifan gets a haul, Sanheim gets trash.

Sounds like Flyers thing.
Hanifin is far better, has just one year left on his deal, and is paid 4.9 million. Conversely, Sanheim is a 2nd pair d-man who is a year older, about to start an EIGHT year contract with a NTC, and is getting paid 6.25 million. Do you see the differences between them? Sanheim alone probably gets you a 2nd round pick.

I’m fine with keeping Sanheim. He’s still young and I think he’ll bounce back. His contract will look a lot better too once the cap starts going up.

TK I can understand not moving just yet unless they're blown away by an offer. If he repeats what he did last season his value might even go up by the trade deadline/next draft.

Laughton though, needs to 100% be traded today for picks. Talk to every team and take the best offer.

I fully believe that if they don’t trade Laughton at the draft it’s because they didn’t want to, not because they didn’t get an offer they liked. It will show the fans that this team isn’t fully committed to the rebuild and they care more about stroking Tort’s ego than fixing the mess that is the Flyers.

I would keep Sanheim for another year if it wasn't for the eight year contract with a NTC. I too believe he has room to still get better. BUT, I don't want to be stuck with that contract if he doesn't get better.

With his age and contract, it shouldn't be too much of an issue when hitting the back half if they wanted to trade him:

CLAUSE DETAILS: Years 1 - 4: Full NTC | Years 5 - 8: 12 team no-trade list

That's not the worst. But yeah, I still think, while I like Sanheim, they should trade him.

I think Sanheim can bounce back to his previous play. I don't see much upside above that.
Which would be fine if the Flyers were contenders, but by the time they are, he'll be 31-32 with 3-4 years left on that deal.
That's why they should try to trade him before July 1.

Wait, so Shaw can magically transform Ristolainen into a good player but there's nothing he can do for Sanheim?
