Forsberg also probably dies from his ruptured spleen because Keith Jones wouldn't have been his roommate (like he was for Lindros) to save him and then Forsberg gets called soft for missing an entire season recovering from that so they trade him.

The situations probably mirror each other.
You know you just yada yada-ed over the high-level involvement that would have been absent from Mr. and Mrs. Forsberg vis-à-vis Clarke’s handling of their son’s career.

Briere era not off to the best start with all these “done deal” trades falling through

I can live with him making mistakes in these early days as long as his process actually is as sound as he makes it out to be. A willingness/desire to draft Michkov is part of that (though I hate the idea of moving up to get him, or anyone else), dumping/acquiring salary in the effort to acquire draft capital is part of it.

I'm not trying to suggest I'm patient - I want him to get off his ass and f***ing do something before I lose it. But I'll forgive him later, up to a point, as long as he gets and stays on the right track.

It's a lot, but dumping a bunch of assets (some of which might see an NHL cup of coffee) for a guy who definitely isn't playing next year is also an investment in the #SelloffForCelebrini, so could be a two birds, one stone sort of thing?
I like #SellOff4Celebrini! Nice. #FlyersCelebriniOfDefeat!

Jesus Christ we're arguing about Forsberg? I know it's contrary to the thread title, but can we leave these smoking hot takes unsaid?

Shit, I was just skimming through the thread and thought for a minute that we were in play for Filip? And I was like, "where the hell is this coming from now?"

Keeping Hayes for the year is fine. Torts might have to (gasp) not destroy the room because he has a hard time with one player.

The return is largely irrelevant as it wouldn’t be anything other than likely nothing good coming back. Same goes for TDA.

Laughton, TK, Sanheim, and Hart are the key pieces to move in this rebuild. Or it’s Hextall retool part 2.

That's like asking asking Fletcher to have a spine.

The common denominator in all this relationship-shredding drama between important players and Clarke is Clarke. The second Forsberg's agent drove a hard deal Clarke never would have forgiven him, just like he took it personally that McCrimmon wanted to be paid money for being good at hockey.

You know how I was like "I can live with him making mistakes yada yada yada"? He's f***ing terrible. Thanks for taking out the trash, though. It's ultimately Torts' fault, obviously. Let's see what he does next. Or rather what business ops, which has its hand up his chute controlling him, does next.
