Lindros was the best player in the game for a while. If he had stayed heathy and had his full career, would the deal have been a winner?
IMO, good trades are ones where both sides benefit equally. When one side gets screwed, the one that was short changed will never deal with you again and the one that ripped off the other party has a hard time finding trading partners in the future.

If we had kept Forsberg it changes nothing about the outcome. We still have no Cup because Clarke was shit at filling out a team.

Forsberg also probably dies from his ruptured spleen because Keith Jones wouldn't have been his roommate (like he was for Lindros) to save him and then Forsberg gets called soft for missing an entire season recovering from that so they trade him.

The situations probably mirror each other.

Obviously the Front Office cares that Sanheim’s name got publicly leaked according to Friedman.

There's that problem, and the problem of players/prospects on other teams getting leaked, as well as information about how teams value players that can then be used by other teams pushing deals. There is no upside. It's not like anyone is running out to buy tickets or fund the Flyers over rumors.

Jesus Christ we're arguing about Forsberg? I know it's contrary to the thread title, but can we leave these smoking hot takes unsaid?

I don't think there's any argument going on about Forsberg. Just the Lindros trade was brought up so Forsberg was brough up naturally.

And you know what - I sort of could see that. But I saw Forsberg on like 3 or 4 posts and I just went "okay what are we talking about?! WE HAVE LEAKS HOW CAN WE BE TALKING ABOUT THIS!!" :puppy::laugh:

This team isn't doing anything until 2026-27 anyway.

We need quality more than quantity. We have the next few years to add draft picks, but there is not guarantee we get a shot at someone as talented as Michkov again.
My point is if they take him at 7 ok. But to give 7 and 22 and + to move up to get him is brutal at this point of their rebuild.

It's a lot, but dumping a bunch of assets (some of which might see an NHL cup of coffee) for a guy who definitely isn't playing next year is also an investment in the #SelloffForCelebrini, so could be a two birds, one stone sort of thing?

im bracing for the trades to NOT happen and we end up with yet another season of #rebuilding not happening..

i just feel like nothing will align for this team.

and #7 will be the only bust of the class of 23 top10.

Who the f*** would? Can you imagine willfully putting yourself in that position? He's a c***. He needs to retire from hockey and go stroke off a horse.
dude is on the road to becoming Palpatine..

not even kidding...

Frank says that it’s ‘essentially back to square one’ on Hayes. A trade with the Blues is still possible, Dallas and Detroit were ‘kind of’ the only other teams in here based on what he can tell. More teams like him but don’t think they can afford it.

Keeping Hayes for the year is fine. Torts might have to (gasp) not destroy the room because he has a hard time with one player.

The return is largely irrelevant as it wouldn’t be anything other than likely nothing good coming back. Same goes for TDA.

Laughton, TK, Sanheim, and Hart are the key pieces to move in this rebuild. Or it’s Hextall retool part 2.

The Flyers got greedy with the Blues trade. They should have kept it simple.
