What would it take for Flyers fans to trade Sanheim to Colorado excluding MacK and Makar.
That's pretty much it.
Colorado doesn't really have anyone else who fits the Flyers timeline.
We already have their 2025 1st, what else do they have to offer?

Mittlestadt is 26, but is he really an upgrade over Frost?
Rantanen is 28, which is old and expensive for us, and you have to ask how good would he be away from McKinnon (see Hyman).
Ritchie (20) is a good center prospect, but he's not close to equivalent value for Sanheim.

Not that we're shopping Sanheim.

You’re going to get responses about not having the right pieces, but that misses the forest for the trees. They’re not going to get that much worse no matter what any of us would do.

*Edit* My work here is done.

Who were "they" wrong about?
AV not liking Ghost or Voracek is neither about evaluation or the current FO.

Sanheim would have been out the door for Krug if that wasn't vetoed by Krug, so I think we can call that a failed evaluation.

That's 3/4 of your top four defense mis-evaluated. I'd call that a pretty damning start, especially when you gave up your second best prospect for half the "second pair" and the other you failed to get value for at the last trade deadline.

Don’t forget that Andrae started in the AHL this season.

Another misevaluation.

Can’t wait to be told he didn’t earn in in TC and preseason.

Did they trade him? So what's the big deal.

Unless it's an uber talent like Michkov, you don't give prospects jobs, you want them to earn them. Injuries are inevitable, so opportunities will be there, it's up to players to take advantage of them.

Starting the season, the LHDs were York, Seeler, and Zamula.
Seeler had earned it last season and was the caddy for Drysdale, who they definitely didn't want to pair with Zamula or Andrae.

York got injured, Zamula struggled, Andrae got a shot and ran with it.
That's the way you want it to work.

No one expected Andrae to make this big of a jump, this fast.
No one expected Grans to look like he could play in the NHL (wasn't even on the prospect list). Though I think he needs some more development, he's held his own.

Richard, Lycksell and Tuomaala are the three best players on the Phantoms.
Richard and Lycksell have shown they can play in the NHL for short periods, as full-time starters?
Tuomaala has more work to do at 5x5, but he can skate and score.
They provide options for Briere if he wants to trade Laughton.

McDonald and Samson so far haven't shown enough.
Desnoyers, Avon, Gendron are long shots right now.

Phantoms are on Wednesday and Saturday.
I want to see Rizzo in action, hasn't done much so far, but coming off emergency surgery in October to remove his appendix.
Five games so far, starting 11/22. So probably just rounding into game shape.

Laughton and Risto wouldn't even move the needle.

Nobody is trading a 25 year old physical PPG+ winger for spare parts.

You aren't going to fleece them.
I'm not saying you could get Tkachuk for Risto and Laughton. I'm saying Tkachuk might be available. It would take several first round picks plus to get him but they might be willing to move him if they think he will want out eventually anyway.
Ottawa is failing again they might want a do over plan. Buffalo traded Eichel for 2 firsts Tuch and Krebs or maybe it was a first and a 2nd but not much more. Reinhart went for a first and a goalie prospect. Desperate failing franchises do desperate things.

I wonder if the Kings would be open to parting with Byfield
That would be nice but I doubt it, at least at a price we'd want to pay. He finally played a full season last year and scored 20G and 50+ points so they likely wouldn't part with him for something we would be willing to trade at least not now. He doesn't look to be off to a super hot start but the Kings are playing well so I am not sure that we'd be good trade partners unless they really love a guy like Risto or something which seems unlikely. I don't imagine they would trade him for picks and middling prospects.

From what I've read, the cost for Jiricek would have probably included Andrae and one of our 1sts this year, and similar picks in future years that they got from Minnesota.

Would you do that trade?

So Sanheim makes the best team in the world and Deady and Briere tried their hardest to give him away !!
That decision to "give him away" is what made him the player he is, ironically. He's said it himself, recently.

I thought the final was to be released on Wednesday? Was there a leak or am I missing something.

Edit :

I assume players/media etc. find out before the official public release. They can't 'confirm or deny' until the official release is my guess.

If that's what it takes then they have league-worst player development. It means this player was always in there, and they couldn't figure out how to get it out. An accident made it happen. All their years of deliberately holding him back and f***ing with him were a massive waste.

I probably would have if it was the Avs pick. I figure that first will probably be a guy that has a similar or worse ceiling than Jiricek. The third and second future picks I wouldn't worry about at this point because there is plenty of time to wheel and deal and make those back up. Plus we have six this year in the first two rounds, I doubt we are going to use them all. I look at a trade like this from our POV as Andrae and a late first for Jiricek. I'd do that.

I'm not sure I'd trade Andrae and a 1st for Jiricek without a lot of film study.
Don't know if Andrae is this good or a SSS, but he's been lights out on the 2nd pair.
And I'd want to know why Jiricek at 21 couldn't win a job on CBJ.
Looking at his AHL career so far, he's a mediocre 5x5 player who's good on the PP.

Potential is a dirty word. Why someone struggles is important to understand.

Is he a potential top player who's been mishandled or a mediocre player whose weaknesses were exposed in the pro game?
