Then you buy him out.
If we’re not netting a 4th round pick in value to retain half on him, there’s no reason to trade him. The retention slot has value too, and we’re already wasting one on Kevin Hayes, who I’m not so sure won’t be bought out himself. They spent a year weaponizing their cap space, there’s no reason to move heaven and earth to get more of it, this was their stated plan.

If you don’t think the Flyers are going to use the cap space this Summer then yeah it’s a non-starter. For the Sharks they do need some vets to insulate the rookies so it’s not as bad value for them as it looks on paper. I can see their interest and I can also see Cam’s disinterest.
I wasn’t intentionally ‘shitting’ on anyone though. I meant it more as a generality about hfboards placing a high value on picks.

Cams got 1 year left...I dont see the harm in just riding him out. He can be the token "vet character guy" instead of them signing an equally as bad player to a 3 year deal in free agency to fill that bs role.
