Maybe Necas gets the benefit of the doubt because he’s bigger but he’s not good defensively at all by the numbers. His offensive production runs inconsistent too.

So I’m not really sure where he’d fall in the Emperor’s eyes.

I’d imagine Carolina is bluffing when they’re putting it out there their first priority is to re-sign Necas. He’s not a play driver by the numbers which they usually value a lot in their players. Secondly they’ve balked at paying peak market value on players better than him over the years.

I don’t have a sub
I really would like to know who does have a sub to PHLY. I like good sports journalism as much as the next guy(although Charlie o doesn’t qualify) but their subscription costs more than the athletic for way less content and you have to pay yearly up front. I just can’t imagine that venture lasting long but who knows.

I hear all the revenue goes to feeding Ant.

Notes from Charlie’s article:

- Nothing really new on Michkov, says they are obv being quiet but there is “optimism” although not a certainty
- Says it’s not a lock that the flyers make a big splash trade this offseason but Briere “has a lot of lines in the water.” Specifically mentions the Senators as a team he’s heard they’ve had talks with and mentions Pinto as a possibility
- Says the Flyers will listen on Farabee but thinks his availability is overblown
- Drysdale had surgery but it was pretty minimally invasive and is already at or near 100% atm
- Don’t expect Flyers to have interest in a Walker reunion
- Atkinson is most likely bought out
-Petersen will likely be buried in the minors but a buyout isn’t out of the realm of possibility

I actually quite like Pinto. Wouldn't mind adding him at all (cost is what matters here, obviously).

Honestly, I'd kick tires on Norris. I know, I know. Everyone hates the idea. But someone has to go (Stutzle, Norris, Greig, Pinto) and I'm sure they'd do just about anything to get rid of that contract

They'd trip over themselves to swap Frost for Pinto
I mean Pinto had a higher PPG this season than Frost has had in any season in his career, along with having good advanced stats. That while being a year and a half younger, hard to see that as anything but a win for the Flyers.

2/3rds of his 5v5 time spent with Tkachuk this year. I really don’t like using WOWYs for meaningful determinations, but the splits there are concerning enough that it requires more digging. If you take the last two years, his most common linemates are Batherson, DeBrincat, and Tkachuk. Tons of Chabot time and a bunch with Chychrun too.

He’s not a bad player or anything. I just don’t like removing context like this. Doubly so if we’re going to make straight comps to players used like Frost was. It’s tricky.

True that added color certainly matters and it’s not as black and white as I made it seem. Having said that Frost also had significantly more power play time and a much higher OZ start percentage.

Pinto isn’t gonna cost the 12OV pick.
I'm not even sure it costs Frost. Given Ottawa's repeated disappointments, they seem like a prime team to view someone like Laughton as a missing piece. Something like Laughton and Colorado's 1st.

Do that and trade Konecny for assets and by golly you've got a rebuild going.
