Read the article I just posted if you think it was a good effort. I don't understand how so many here seem to be watching a completely different game than I am.
So, that is yours and some bloggers opinion of the game. I think we have our own eyes and can assess the game on our own. Just because we don't agree with you doesn't mean we are wrong.
I found the Avalanche attack to be very potent and threatening. The line with Downie was a very good forechecking line. They caused fits with their speed, passing and stickhandling.
Was it a Picasso? No. The Jets made some pretty bad errors. However, what I SAW was a Jets team that put together a better effort on a back to back then I have seen in a very long time. I saw a team that had it's bench shortened early last night and was playing at altitude battle to the very end of the game, save an admittedly frustrating lull in the 3rd.
I am willing to give the Jets the fact that they were playing a very confident skilled forward group at home in their 3rd game in 4 nights. I saw a team that was a couple of bounces away from tying or even winning this game despite all the odds against them.
I saw a Jets team that has tried harder, forechecked better and seemed more determined in the past 4 games and have seemed to shake the duldrums of the early season.
So, while you trumpet how bad everything is, I prefer to see a lot of positives.
Coaches often mention that the tide often turns several periods or games before the results follow. This applies both ways, of course. A team can play much better for several games without getting the results they want on the scoreboard. Conversely, you can see teams on winning streaks starting to have a drop in their play and still winning games. I think we saw that on both sides of the coin tonight.
Yes, the Jets have work to do. Yes, they still need to get better in their own zone. However, if the Jets won tonight, they still would have been unbeaten in regulation on this trip and had 5 of a possible 6 points. As it stands, they are 1-1-1 and playing with a much more passionate effort every night.
In other words, it's not the end of the world.
