And Florida beat the Penguins. Every team has an off night. Pretty sure 10-1 is extremely impressive. The Avalanche has a lot of talent. Especially at the forward position. Good game, just not good enough.

So you are arguing that Colorado is elite? My point exactly.

They are not as good as their record. There is not doubt about that. They have a great top 6 and an awesome AHL defense core :)

10-1 hardly ever is, but the fact of the matter is that they look like a good team, a much better one than the Winnipeg Jets.

Watching Schief was disheartening tonight.

Agreed. He looked weak, timid, and afraid to make mistakes. Sometimes I think if he had half of Kane's "I don't give a poop' mentality, I think he'd be a different guy out there.

I think the talent is there though but he's tough to watch for me anyway.

I don't think it should matter who the competition is, whether they are elite, playoff contenders, etc. The jets were in position to win with a 1 goal lead going into the third. They couldn't close it out and with the mistakes they had in their own zone, it resulted in a loss. It wasn't like the lost was inevitable because it was against the Avs. Get real.

We may have played fairly well. But we lost. WE LOST. AGAIN. That is all that matters. I'd rather they play like **** and win.

I could understand this if they didn't have a +18 GF/GA differential, but I'd have to say right now they are playing as good as their record.

I agree with everything you said.
His skating is also concerning again. Zero power, too high, and just doesn't look like he has any power or push.

Winnipeg, Man.
Man that was a great game. Who knew that we could play a back to back game in Colorado, get a lead and hold on to it til the end? I was stroking my goatee in glee at the end watching Colorado desperately try to take it to OT. Coach Noel's gameplan led us to yet another victory. So many power play goals, such brilliant puck movement. To Evil! It's great to be a Jets fan in Mirror Earth.

IMO what is killing them is they don't have a true play maker to set up on the wall or a trigger man who finds the open areas. Everything gets funneled to the point and they blast away hoping for the best.

Yeah, it's actually pretty obvious if you look at it.

Every year, we always seem to have those handful of games where we could've won/got a point if we just learned to close it out. It really blows missing a playoff spot by ~5 points.

Say that then go and take a look at who was playing defence for them tonight.

Their defense isn't great but they're getting solid goaltending and have a talented group of forwards.

I'm finding it strange that we're discussing how bad the Colorado Avalanche in a Post Game thread where the Jets LOST to the Avalanche. They're 10-1 and have looked good, the Jets are 5-6-2 and haven't.

Some good effort tonight, came up a little short - More defensive problems, same old, same old. One day we'll have to correct those, lol (re: Slapshot; yeah ... we're workin' on it)

Whats your definition of elite? Do I think they're going to continue at this pace? No.. Do I think they're a young talented team that's going to make the playoffs this year.. Absolutely.

I said they weren't an elite team. That's it. I am not sure what everyone is trying to convince me of. They are 10-1. They didn't look elite tonight, they looked like an AHL team with a hot goalie against the Pens. Their 2nd best defenseman is Cory Sarich. 3 of the others are journeyman fringe NHLers.

They have some really good forwards. They have a team shooting percentage 2.5 times higher than their opposition. Get my drift?

I mentioned that they aren't elite not as a criticism of the Avs, but the Jets apologists here :) We didn't almost beat Chicago or the Pens.

I want to know what the **** was going through Mark's and Zach's heads on that 3rd goal? I mean, seriously. That was rec league-esque..

Otherwise, yeah, there are some positives to take... Just hard not to think about that goal. Absolutely atrocious...

Agree. That was a bleepin joke. I made a thread out of frustration because of that. That play is a microcosm of the Jets play in their own zone for much of their 2+ year existence in Winnipeg..and maybe it was like that in the final few years of Atlanta as well?

Just really poor decisions in their own end...

Oh well I guess I get you then. This is a game the Jets could have won. I think it's time we stop commending them for showing up and trying to win and start expecting them to show up and actually do it.

The Jets lost because they had several minutes with the man advantage and didn't get anything out of it..again

They sat back in the third period and it came back to bite them in the butt..again

They had too many giveaways and had a lack of communication in their own zone..again.

Coach Noel sounded lost in the woods in his post game interview.

Little is definitely earning his contract.

Why is that so bad?
I don't get it.

All it does is say we try and win for the whole 60 minutes.
Its kind of Cheesy but thats what people are upset about?

How about sitting Peluso for ThorNburn?

Maybe I am only seeing what I want to see, but I don't see how Thornburn in for Peluso makes us a better team!

It really doesn't, at least not in my eyes. After how Peluso's been bringing it lately, you would think Noel would go with the younger player who's been playing well rather than old man Thor. I just still have a lot of trouble seeing what Thorburn has that Peluso doesn't, besides age.

They were playing the well-rested hottest team in the whole league on a back-to-back on a road trip with their back-up goalie in net. They've just lost a defenceman to a potentially career-ending medical problem. It would have been nice if they could have won but I'm totally happy with this great effort. Even if the Jets end up being a last-place team, they're one heck of an exciting-to-watch last-place team. That was one of the most entertaining hockey games I've seen in years.

The Colorado announcers were way more impressed with the Jets than the majority of Jets fans seem to be -- after the second period, they were saying, basically, that Colorado had to slow this game down ... they're not used to playing a team that's as fast and creative as they are.

Obviously we aren't as good as Colorado but the Jets put a big scare into them.

The wins will come, probably about the time that the power play gets going again.

I wonder if anything will happen to Colorado's goal-horn guy.

What if there was two seconds left? Still call the time out?

But agree on Peluso, I'd have Peluso out there over Wright, Tangradi, and Halischuk.
