Man Colaiacovo is annoying. If Zach was willing to take A LOT less to stay in Toronto, he'd still be a Leaf. Period. I really think it's stupid to lay this entirely on the Leafs.

I watch a lot of Leaf games but Oilers fan, he's exactly the type of player we need and others like him were even more expensive or probably didn't want to go to Edmonton. Zach seemed like he really wanted to go there, hell, he was there for a whole week before they even announced the deal.

I wonder how well he will do with Edmonton and if he and McDavid will stick. Hyman blows the zone like a madman, at least with the leafs he did (because Matthews hangs back pretty much always). McDavid is almost Bure-esque for playing high looking for an outlet. I don’t think the styles will be compatible at all.

Yeah it's quite the long contract but we desperately needed a guy like him so he got what he wanted. Lol I'll keep that hashtag in mind and use it whenever he puts up points.

I've noticed this watching Leafs games as well, but Dave Tippett won't have any of it. He's pretty hard nosed about people playing his system and will healthy scratch you if you keep screwing the pooch.
He'll have to change to be successful with McDavid, that is if he's even on the 1st line with him. Either way, he's adding depth we desperately needed and I'm sure he'll find a lot of success either working with McDavid or even a line of Draisitl - RNH - Hyman could be interesting.

Yeah I think that's what we'll see early on, Yamamoto - Draisaitl - Hyman there's a pretty sick possession line, Yamamoto is a relentless honey badger on the puck, Drai's so good at protecting it and passing
Hyman as well, throw someone like Barrie out there on D and ouch...Then a 1st line prob

Sucks to loose Hyman but I’m glad we didn’t sign him to a 5+ million long term contract extension. Not worth that type of money. I’m excited to see what Ritchie can bring to our top six.

He won’t get close to that i would bet. He will be coming late on most plays. McDavid is a rush player and Hyman will be behind the play most of the time. His style will have to change somewhat. Going to be interesting to see how he plays without the puck. I don’t think he will do any better than he did with the Leafs

Don't fool yourself, the only reason he is in Edmonton is because they are paying him 8M+ more over that contract than Toronto was willing to. His agent was allowed to talk to all teams prior so it was pretty obvious they agreed quite early

Oh, the deal was basically done a week before it was announced as is he was in Edmonton checking out the facilities and meeting players and staff etc. I don't like the length on the contract and suspect he'll eventually be yet another buyout but we needed someone. Someone who actually wanted to play in Edmonton lol.
