Post-Game Talk: The Wild? More like The Boring AF! Jets lose 3-1

While I agree there are some overreactions here, today's game is the sort of opportunity to put distance between us and those "faltering" teams in the Central, not to drop 2 points at home against one of them.

In the moment I get upset, but hockey cannot be played perfectly. After my initial annoyance subsides I look for positives, and this is a good time for the team to be reminded how a trap game can confound them.

The only bright side that I can see from this game is it least hellebuyck gave us a quality start for a change, and hopefully that trends forwords. I wouldn't bet on it but clearly the coaches are going to ride him in into the ground

Speed beats the trap every time -
We were slow for most of the game - picked it up a bit in the 3rd but too late.

I don't understand why the big bad trap is such a concern -
Dump it and chase it - if you're a quick team, you're forcing the D to turn and you should win the races.

We were not a quick team tonight and way too many hero's trying to carry into the zone through a wall of wild.
KC, Ehlers, Scheif and Wheels come to mind.

The dump and chase should have been implemented against the Wild to avoid the trap.

The zone entry was abysmal and so was the line juggling.

After Connor was put on the top line, that line was 41% Corsi and only 4 shots on net in almost 14 minutes of 5 on 5 icetime... in a game where we were down by 2 or 1 goal for its entirety. Even with score effects in their favor they didn't generate much... That is an awful well for Maurice to go to and he keeps going to it.

Probably the worst game of Morrissey's career.

Maurice isn't exactly a coaching genius. His adjustments boil down to blender speed and to instruct the guys to go 'faster and quicker' into the trap.

In playoff elimination games, his strategy is to put a couple guys in the lineup who haven't played in months.

Maybe instead of trying to figure out the trap, the Jets should play the trap game themselves when they play against teams that use it against us. The game would be boring for the fans to watch but if we're looking to get points out of the game it's basically a "wait for an opportunity to arise" and then try to score. We have a lot of players that can score which would still give us an edge in those situations.

This. Literally the sloppiest Jets game I’ve ever been to in terms of execution, I’ve seen Junior B Teams with crisper passing. But somehow it’ll be Helle’s fault.

Ehlers needs to figure out that you don’t skate the rink and then dump it when no other Jets are deep and it ends up as a turnover 98% of the time!

But if he does not dump it in he gets demoted to the 4.line

Coaching. Cooper is in a different level when it comes to intelligence and adjusting. Maurice....not so much.

They also fall down opportunely and then kill you with their PP.

No real trapping teams in the East, other than Isles, Devils and Sens. East plays with speed.

We have trouble with teams that check well. Force us to physically win the puck all night long.

I think Chevy needs to give Don Waddell a call, see if he'll give us a deal.

Literally no one could do anything. Think Little, Tanev, maybe Lowry had ok games. Most everyone else had some very bad moments.

Usually everything since your mind is made up prior. The amount of times the players fail and you fall back on the coach has basically become a meme. There is no one else to criticize obviously because it’s always the coaches fault in your eyes. No one is taking these takes seriously anymore because they’re nothing but overreactions and a fair amount of times completely off base.
