If I remember the last few years more deals went through the days before the deadline them this year

Do we think this is true though? We know Toronto is not going to acquire Karlsson. No chance. I'm not sure a team like Anaheim is in the running for Karlsson either. Same with Florida. Maybe SJ and TB but I don't think they are the 'front-runner's for McDonagh anyways.

This is the sense I've always gotten.
If they're really trying to move Ryan with him that makes a deal ultra complicated. Maybe Dorion completes his transition into ultimate idiot and caves to the pressure and makes an unforgivably horrible deal, but I don't think even he is that stupid.
FWIW, Jeff Gorton said yesterday he felt there would be a lot of activity league wide today. So we shall see...
There will be. Still a ton of names left on the board who have to move at a minimum. They're the usual suspects (Kane, Green, Smith, etc) but there will be a nice amount of activity regardless.
Whether or not we get the 50/50 (or less) "shocker" like the Gaborik trade or MSL (to a lesser extent) remains to be seen.

McD not being part of last night was super weird. Even if they told him we're trading you tomorrow 100%, the guy is the captain of the team for a few years, you think he'd want to come to have some sort of goodbye moment of closure. Could be that he's just really upset about the whole thing, thought he'd be here forever, etc.
