Prospect Info: 2023 1st Rd Selection - #28 OA (via BOS, WSH) - C, Easton Cowan [London Knights, OHL; [Height 5.11 -- Weight 185]

Trash talking from fans and players alike is an ingrained part of all sports. If you can get in the head of your opponent because he’s emotionally weak and mentally fragile, that’s a huge advantage to exploit.

This is the OHL - - not minor peewee hockey. Cowan could very well be playing professionally right now. If he was in the NHL, would he be exempt from any trash talking from fans or opponents because he’s “a teenage boy”?

People are considered to be adults when they turn 18yrs of age, and in a few months Cowan is going to be TWENTY (20) years old. Anyone needs to be sheltered from trash talk at that age has no hope of playing professionally.

Sorry, but I won’t be able take anything you say seriously now.

Just curious how old are you?

Edit - I can see your laugh emoji. Kinda pathetic.

Yes, Cowan had a fantastic game. Our seats are behind the visitors bench and we were on him all night about his fake point streak record and asking where his gold medal was. To his credit, Cowan just ignored it and never looked up in the stands once.
What fake point streak?

Since its over 2 years - the OHL did not recognize it as a record.

…but this hero thought it was cool heckle Cowan(teen ager) over it.
Oh, yeah the 65 games is unofficial for that reason. However, it was real. This season alone he has had a 29 game streak and has only been held without a point twice this year. What was there to heckle?

What fake point streak?

They gave Cowan credit for an “assist” that ran his consecutive points streak to 61 games in Kitchener when the puck allegedly went off a teammate’s “skate”.

The controversy had absolutely nothing to do with the points streak being spread over the course of two seasons lol

So, you were heckling because you think his point streak stopped at 60 games?

No, I was heckling Cowan in general because I’m an Oshawa fan and he was the enemy Sunday night.

It wasn’t just the fake point streak - - I was telling Cowan to show us his gold medal and asking him if Cam Allen was driving the team bus.

We sit behind the visitor bench and our section always rides the opponents. Some teams handle it better than others. Kingston and Barrie are the two easiest teams to get in their head.

I understand that as a Gens fan. What gold medal? Would he drive the bus because of his DUI?

I mean the chirp kind of makes sense if someone on the Generals had won a gold medal, or anyone playing in the game. Seems kinda dumb in an OHL barn where pretty much everyone is a Hockey Canada fan too lol

I think you're looking too much into a simple chirp. Yes we all cheer for Team Canada to win a gold medal, but after those tournaments are done we go back to cheering for our home city teams and against other players who played on Team Canada.

So, if Calum Ritchie over heard, he would bust out his Hlinlka medal?
You are thinking way too much about a simple chirp against a rival OHL team. It's not that deep.

Apologies - that clears it up!!
THIS justifies yelling at a teen boy in public. Gotcha

Appreciate the insight into your disease.

Some people do. Others chirp point streaks, and DUIs while others don't feel the need to chirp at all.

I am not thinking about it too much. Obviously, it is not deep.

Which is why he's chirping London about it because they had 3 players on the teams

Cowan was the primary target of my heckling for a couple of reasons.

He’s he’s London’s second best player, and it makes no sense to trash talk a guy who never gets off the bench - - like Ryder Boulton - - although some people did.

And also because Cowan was at the World Juniors for two consecutive years and didn’t even manage to win a bronze medal. That’s pretty bad.

He was on a team that didn't win.
