This guy is having just an insane season.

.314 avg, 21 home runs, 71 rbis, .933 OPS

It would be interesting to hear from pro scouts how they project him after the season he's had.

He’s raking and is obviously moving up the prospect list but I’m always leery of guys putting up a 3:1 K:BB ratio or higher in AA or lower. See Smith, Kevin.

MLB.com has him there already. Ranked 14 on our list and the only position players ahead of him are legit; Moreno. Orelvis, Toman, Kasevich, Doughty, Martinez and Horwitz. Barger leapfrogged Jimenez, Otto, Meza, Beltre, Machado and Brown. He is the new Groshans.

Will post it here. I think it's very disturbing what's happening to Kikuchi for the human element

Good win today.
About Kikuchi though, the guy is not right mentally. You have a 7 run lead and can't find the zone. He threw a slider at 3-0 too which shows he doesn't trust his fastball. Thats the big thing.
After Walker's visit, he looked good. After an error on the DP ball, he lost it again. Just look at the way he received the ball from Kirk after the error, his facial expression is not what you want to see.
He was shaking his head when he gave the ball to Schnieder. He's clearly fighting it. I'm not even angry anymore at him. It's at the point where you feel bad for him because he's trying but it's not working. Forget about the team for a second, just hope he finds it for his own sake. I am concerned for him mentally. As a human, it's tough what he's going through

He is loaded and it’s just a game? Kikuchi will be fine. He won’t be trusted for the rest of the season and they will see if they can fix him over the off season. What a truly brutal singing by Atkins.

Does it really matter if his stuff is "better" when he has no command?
I would be comfortable with sending Kikuchi down for a week and keeping Pop on the roster. Pop is in form, Kikuchi could use the week for a mental re-set until September call ups.

Now:

1. Romano
2. Garcia
3. Bass
4. Phelps
5. Mayza
6. Cimber
7. Richards
8. Pop

September (if they go 10)

1. Romano - 2.40
2. Garcia - 2.74
3. Bass - 1.36
4. Phelps - 2.50
5. Mayza - 2.88
6. Cimber - 3.27
7. Pop - 3.38
-
8. Richards - 4.91
9. Merryweather - 6.38
10. Kikuchi - 5.25

Well this is a schedule. Anyone know why there are so many interleague games? Did I miss something? We also start in STL.

Ya, that's exactly what I said!

Regardless, how do we know Kikuchi has mental health problems, exactly?

Meh, you said it's hard to feel bad for him because of his salary/performance. That pretty obviously suggests some combination of A) the salary makes up for any mental health issues, and/or B) you don't care about any mental health issues because he sucks/is overpaid. But if there's another interpretation of that I'm missing, I would be happy to listen and take back my comment.

As to the second part, I agree with you... I don't know that he does have mental health issues - he's obviously struggling with the on-field stuff and confidence, but that's definitely not the same thing. Some comments here about his mental health strike me as reading way too much into it. I have no problem with disputing that... I just wouldn't dispute it with "Meh, he's rich and sucks this year."
