Damn I would be pissed. Tiedemann alone seems steep for Montas. Montas shouldn’t cost Moreno/Tiedemann. Martinez, Lopez sure but if it’s going to cost a premium piece like Tiedemann I say no thanks

I’ve read that Tiedemann could end up being a front line starter down the road so if you’re moving him it’s not for a guy with 1.5 years left who is a #3 rotation guy

It was Musgrove and prospects to Houston for Happ. I knew we got Lyon back in the deal. We also traded Perez and player yo he named later which turned out to be Comer.

Then Houston traded Musgrove and Moran to Pittsburgh for Gerrit Cole.

Then Pittsburgh traded Musgrove to SD for some prospects I can’t remember. Remember SD getting a steal.

I remember I wasn’t happy with this trade because I didn’t like Happ. But in the end Musgrove wasn’t anything until last year and this year took him a while to develop.

Plus we got Saunders for Happ which helped in 2016 and Happ being on the Jays in 2013 and 2014 probably helped us sign him in 2016.

I would guess if Tiedemann was in this year’s draft instead of last year he’d be a top 5 pick. Jays would be stupid to trade him for anything less than a bonafide star who can help the Jays now. I.e Ohtani/Soto

Pittsburgh has had some horrific deals in recent memory.

Specifically remembering that Chris Archer deal, even though Baz has been hurt.

Yeah my initial reaction was pissed at trading him but that lasted 2 seconds before I saw the account.

I would not trade Tiedemann for Montas.

Wasn't that a 13 player trade or something? I remember Musgrove, Comer, and Perez as part of the deal. Rollins? Something like that. It was a bit of a weird one at the time, but it worked out well a few years later.

Listening to the radio, seems like the A’s are looking at Martinez++ for Montas. But Yankees are involved big time and Peralza might be more appealing to Oakland. Sounds like Cardinals are involved too but they don’t know at what level because most of their top prospects are involved for Soto

This deadline is probably gonna suck from an asset cost perspective.

Yeah it was something ridiculous like that. I remember not being too impressed with Happ and giving up high upside arms like Musgrove and someone we just took in the draft. Then I think the player to be named later was Comer who was a 2nd round pick and I was upset about that.

And it works out that only Musgrove was a loss and he really didn’t develop until 8 years later.
