So who are they in on? They could meet Seattle in the wildcard and then potentially the Yankees in ALDS or ALCS.
The front runners from reports are the Cardinals, Padres and Dodgers for Soto

The Jays are looking for bullpen and maybe a starter

Damn. Yankees aren't playing around. Montas replaces the injured Severino and then I assume Severino bumps Montgomery to the pen later in the month

When healthy:

Cole
Montas
Severino
Cortes
Taillon/Montgomery

Jays are starting to get Oilers syndrome, where other teams know exactly what they need to win so no one is giving it to them without asking gif ridiculous assets in return.

Meanwhile other teams who are already solid get better for cheaper.

I mean it isn't really though because every team is always looking for more pitching. It also seems like there is a different market the Yankees are buying on compared to every other team in the league who is paying threw the nose to add this year.

montas has pitched 8 innings since the 3rd of july. there are flags. i expect him to have the same results as sonny gray did after he went from pitcher paradise to pitcher hell
Earlier in the thread people were saying they don't want montas because of this, but given the return this seems like it would have been a decent gamble without giving up anyone to important...

Seattle is the only team that really went stupid with paying. Other teams are getting pieces for reasonable prices.

you want a player who can make a impact. sometimes the unknowns do a better job. montas has enough red flags that you might not feel comfortable giving up assets , that return could be 100 wins for the a's if montas cant win at yankee stadium.

I actually think this is less about the Yankees prospects being overrated and more about the A’s propensity to target older, closer to the major prospects in their trades. The Blue Jays essentially did the same thing to the A’s in the Chapman deal, gave up a lot less then expected but all of their pieces were upper minors, or in Hoglund’s case, expected to rise quick through the minors.

Happ, Rodon, Tigers relievers, still out there. Not panicking yet but my concern level is rising.
