The prices are ridiculous right now.

The Mets apparently have been talking to teams and the major leaguer teams want thrown in is apparently Jeff McNeil.

So whoever said teams want somebody like a Gurriel thrown in probably aren't far off

[Bowden] ($) NYY, LAD, SDP, TOR & STL would be the most likely destinations if Ohtani is somehow traded before the deadline... HOU, TOR, TBR, MIL and BOS have engaged with the WSN on Josh Bell, at least to some extent... TOR are actively trying to acquire Quintana

To be fair, I'm pretty sure rumoured prices are always like that at the deadline.

"Team A is asking for 2 of a team's top 5 prospects and a good young roster player and to dump a bad contract in exchange for Player X."

24 hours later...

"Team A trades Player X for a team's #7, #24, and #27 prospects."

I can understand taking their time with Tiedemann - they've already been SUPER aggressive with him this year, and he's so young - but I really want them to bring Zulueta up soon. There's lots of risk, but at least it feels like it would be a really high upside arm with velocity for the pen.

Nice to see him get some recognition.

Just read something that the 5 teams who are in on Soto have submitted final offers. Nats will let teams know their answers later today. Seems like this Soto situation is holding up a lot of activity

Dodgers gonna be loaded

All the teams who are trying to upgrade are basically in on Soto. Once we know where he's going I'm going to assume the floodgates will open.

Yeah also same teams in on Soto are also in on other players. So things are held up, Cardinals both on Soto and Montas etc.

Why are all the teams waiting for five teams to make a deal with the Nationals? That makes no sense. They would be looking to trade with someone if the trade is right. I don’t believe there is a holdup. Just high prices.

Whoever misses out on Soto may be willing to pay a higher price for the next guy in line, but they aren’t willing to miss out on Soto to pay that price.

Morsoi says the Jays asked about Soto but discussions didn’t go that far because he thinks the Nats asked for Bichette+ in a deal

Blair thinks the Jays may go after short term players but save assets for the offseason should Ohtani become available.

Morosi thinks Syndergaard is a great fit for the Jays. He is owed close to $7M and teams near the LT can’t take on his full money. If the Jays take on Syndergaard’s full money, it shouldn’t cost a lot.

Morsoi doesn’t like Lopez for the Jays but really likes a lefty in Skubal. Wonders if Skubal came up when Toronto spoke to the Tigers about their pen arms.

Thinks Boston and Miami sell. Giants are weighing selling now to get more prospects and load up for Ohtani or Soto or sign Judge. Watch Eovaldi tonight, a good start and he could be moved.

Personally I like Bo. Despite some of his short comings. I think the whole family matter is bothering him and i can understand why. I bet he has a good year in 2023 whether its here or somewhere else.

And this year notwithstanding, Bo has been pacing 6bWAR a year for his career. You rarely trade that sort of young cost controlled talent and come out ahead. I've even seen some suggestions he headline the deal for Skubal, which I find to be hilarious considering Skubal hasn't been worth in his career (2.8bWAR) half of what Bo was just last year (5.9).

He's having a down year. It happens, but this insistence from seemingly multiple corners that we cut ties with him baffles me greatly.

So why do the Cubs give away a young fireballer with good numbers? Is young, cost controlled and could essily be part of a winner in Chicago one year. Mind boggling what GMs do. Everything you want as a team competing now or next year.

Yeah seems rather pointless. The guy they got back isn't very impressive. Another overated yankee prospect.

Effross has been awesome, but he's a 28-year-old reliever who throws 91... not exactly a "young fireballer".
