Completely forgot that the Hoboken station don't have raised platforms like you'd see on the subway or other commuter trains. It's at ground level. Train wouldn't have had to be be going that fast to cause that kind of damage since it just went through the barricade.

It would appear either a medical emergency or intentional by the engineer.

I arrived at Hoboken Terminal via light rail about 15 min after the wreck (with no idea that anything had happened). Very bad scene. Many injured people in the plaza outside being tended to. Everyone at my office seems to be accounted for, thankfully.

Huge emergency response and news presence around the station mid-day. I'd be surprised if the station was up and running again any time soon.

When a major news story like this occurs in a place you are very familiar with, it really shows how bad a lot of new coverage is, especially the early reports. Something to keep in mind whenever following a story elsewhere.

The platform can be absolutely jammed with people when one or more trains are letting out. It seems like that wasn't the case at the time, which is extremely fortunate given that it was rush hour.

I would say at 8:45 the station is past its peak traffic. I think most of the NJ commuters that need to be at a desk in lower Manhattan by 9 have passed through Hoboken terminal by 8:30. Had this been a half hour earlier it could have been much worse. Thankfully, that's just hypothetical.

I've been experimenting with UV resins for a little while now and I love the stuff.

There's about a 10-35% chance that it has a 90% chance of being in our vicinity by Saturday.

I saw a computer model earlier that had the GFS model taking it to a very similar path that Irene went in 2011, but then the next update had the GFS and pretty much every other model going well out to sea.

Oh my....Enberg was fantastic.

As a met fan I miss McCarver and Kiner.

They were great. There were times I thought Kiner was 1/2 in the bag by the 7th inning. Used to like Kiner's Corner after the game when I was a kid too.

I don't like the looks of this Matthew. Funny though, Obama promised to shutdown Guantanamo. Matthew might just do it.

Guantanamo looks like its going to get blasted.
