Nope. I very rarely keep anything I catch, and what I do keep is by request from someone else. Even then, it's only if I feel I owe it to them. If left to my own devices I will release everything every single time. It's the most satisfying part of the experience. I rarely take pictures of anything I catch either. This picture was a request as well. While these fish aren't super rare, you don't see them as often as a northern or chain pickerel, so it's nice to have a picture to refer to.

I've seen a few of those ones before, but not too many.

I keep saying I wanna make my own little pond outside, with some exotic fish. It never happens though.

Well, while everyone was gearing up for a tropical storm, I was at Lake Champlain doing some much needed fishing. I'm not one for pictures, but this fish was particularly interesting. It's a hybrid between a northern pike and a chain pickerel. Pretty neat fish:

Awesome, beautiful fish. Chained Northern ;)

How was the fishing overall?

This was a very good trip for nice sized pike. That boga grip has a scale on it that is relatively accurate. We had a 9 pounder and several 7s. We probably had over a dozen in the 5+ pound range. It was also a good trip for largemouth with a bunch in the 4 lb. range and a few over 5 lb. Unfortunately the smallmouth bite was slow, but I did manage a 5.5 lb. smallie at night. That was a hell of a fight on an ultralight St. Croix panfish rod with 6 lb. test in the dark :)

This time of year all the fish seem to be pretty spread out, so we pick them up here and there and then move on. We put a lot of miles on the boat motor on this trip.

I wonder how much revenue was lost this weekend due to forecasting?

Better revenue lost than lives lost especially since NJ has been hard hit by hurricanes the last few years. If you aren't prepared, you get called an idiot when disaster strikes. If you take precautions that aren't necessary, the consequences are less dire.

Got real lucky with this one, could have been pretty bad, everyone was wrong on this one which is crazy. Like FJG said I'll take this result every single time. Mayor Vaughn from Jaws would not have been pleased though.

The only problem is the next time a lot of people won't take the warnings seriously and put themselves in potential danger.

the "told you so" attitude from people who don't understand weather is how people end up getting killed.

A storm making a lucky turn late in the game does not make someone right.

Yep. I'd rather be alive and uninjured to get laughed at for taking a hurricane threat to seriously than be caught unprepared and maybe injured or dead because I didn't heed a warning. Better safe and over-cautious than the alternative.

There might not have been any flooding, but the ocean has been way too rough for swimming. We're avoiding trouble by a fairly slim margin. Not sure how else the forecasters could have called it.
