Just did a quick check. Of our remaining games

CHI played last night, as did we, so we should be on neutral energy

The Isles will be playing the Caps the day before we play them, so we should have more energy.

Phoenix will have a few days off before we play them, so they should have more energy but they also travel and we have a day off before we play them. So not too much.

The next day we play Dallas in their home, but they will also be playing a game vs Nashville when we play PHX. So both of us will be playing each other on the later end of a B2B and should be neutral energy and we will be up 1-0.

Tampa Bay will play Philly the day before we play them, so we should have more energy.

Florida will not be playing a game the day before we play them.

So, of our remaining games. Only Phoenix and Florida aren't playing on a back-to-back. So our energy level should be on par with every other team we play or possibly even more.

So I'm doubting we'd be better off with the Rangers than the Pens. The Rags have been the better team not just lately, but since December, IIRC.

I would rather face the Rangers than the Pens. The Jackets match up better with the Rangers in my mind. Plus, the story lines, that would be a fun series.

Can you imagine a playoff series vs the Rangers...I think NWA would be booming, especially after the crowed at the last game

Do the playoff games have dates yet?

I think first games start on the 16th. However, we won't know specific dates for CBJ or other teams until pairings are set. Then NHL probably works with NBC Sports to decide which games they want to show on the network to determine who plays when.

I'm very impatient at the moment. I want to fast forward to the end of the season to see if we did it or not.

Here's the Blue Jackets record against their remaining opponents:

Chicago: 0-1-0 Got destroyed 6-1 in what was probably the worst effort of the season

New York Islanders: 2-1-0 and I have to think the Blue Jackets won't be happy about the way they played in the last game. I expect a solid effort out of them on Sunday.

Phoenix: 1-0-0

Dallas: 1-0-0 and they're leading the next game 1-0

Tampa Bay: 2-0-0 It's likely that Tampa's seeding will be locked in by this point and they won't have much to play for.

Florida: 2-0-0 but that was without Luongo

They're 10-6-2 since the Olympics. Play at that clip in the last 6 and they're in. Barring significant injury(ies) I don't see the Blue Jackets losing more than 3 of those games. I also can't see the Leafs winning all of their last 4.

Last night really sucked. Having said that, many said that getting three points from the Colorado-Philadelphia-Chicago stretch would be good enough, and we did that. It hurts because we were really close to five or six, but that's done.

IMO, there are three "packs" of games left.

- Pack one vs. NYI on Sunday. MUST get two points. Take a day to rest
- Pack two with Phoenix and Dallas. Get two more points. Take a breath.
- Pack two with Tampa and Florida. Get two more points.

That gets us to 91 points, and it should be enough. I think. Put last night behind us and get ready for the Islanders.

Don't look now but Detroit will be ahead of Philly if the Flyers lose to Boston today. So now we have to worry about them too because they beat us on ROW. Ugh.

Yes, Islanders is a must-win game Sunday. Phoenix and Dallas are fighting each other for a playoff spot so there is going to be a lot riding on those two games for all 3 clubs.

Detroit can't be "ahead" of Philly since the top 3 spots are division-based. Detroit will remain in the 1st wild card spot regardless of what happens tonight (since Montreal is sitting at 93 pts). Philly only drops into the wild card spot if we (or someone else in the Metro) somehow pass them.

If Philly loses in regulation they stay at 87 pts. So momentarily Detroit with 88 is ahead of them. If Detroit wins tonight that gives them 90. Please explain how that doesn't put Detroit ahead of Philly?
