I think it probably would've been better for it. I'm glad he was able to succeed but that doesn't necessarily mean we did him any favours. The turning point was when we finally started pairing him with better players in season two. He was great with Caufield (even though CC was snakebit) and then formed a great line with him and Nick.Starting Slaf in the AHL would have done absolutely nothing.
I suspect it would've happened earlier if Dach were healthy but season one looked like a mistake to me. Either way, I think season one he was a little over his head.
In any event, it doesn't really matter now. He's grown by leaps and bounds and I expect good things from him this season.
