If we do let up the first goal , Murray needs to keep us in it this time. At least give us a chance to tie it in the 3rd.

Game 4 they went up 1-0 then Crosby tied it. 1-1 end of first. Then Jake missed a ton of chances. And kunitz missed a breakaway...Leading to that fluke wraparound goal.

Just hope its not like game 6 of the sens series. Refs pushing for game 7.

Anyways we've lost all 3 times on our first chance to close out a series. I doubt they want this series going back home where anything can happen. I see the same type of intensity for this game that we had in game 5.

This is where we need to take advantage of our experience over them . I'd love to see Jake get those type( and the same amount) of opportunities again. Coming off a win, and him getting a point..I doubt he'd miss those this time around.

I stand by the idea that if Kunitz scores on the breakaway or Jake scores on 1 of the 200 chances he had, we win that game. That was just a bad unlucky game even down to the wrap around goal that goes in and doesn't go in for Geno later in the game. Just one of those games Rinne was making insane desperation saves (very Fleruy like actually) and Murray wasn't holding the fort down.

Wow!

The $10 tickets for the PPG Paints arena viewing party are sold out it seems. I doubt that they made every seat available, but still, that is a LOT of sold tickets.

Amazing considering that they had issues with people getting reasonable prices for tickets to the three real final games. As low as $200 a ticket, less if you believe scalpers.

I have it on good authority that before game six, and game seven if necessary, the Pens are allowing fans to beat this up with sledge hammers and steel I-Beams.

It's a great area, but man did I hate it there. Mostly because I hated my job and we were completely broke.

Yeah enjoyment can certainly be situational. Wouldn't have enjoyed my time there as much if we didn't meet the people we did. Our waiter at the first place we ate ended up giving us a place to stay for a week and showed us around it was great. We'd always go to the beach every morning. He'd go to work we'd drink he'd meet up with us later and we pretty much repeated that.

....and that's why we win the cup on Sunday (in keeping with relevance to this thread  )

It seemed to me pretty much every section was available and I'm not surprised it sold out. Even though it's just on TV it's still a great atmosphere to watch a game in and there is nothing like being around a bunch of other fans if we win.

If you ever stop back in the burgh and want to play... i'm about a 4.5-5.0 NTRP player. Usually over Robinson hard courts or there are a few in the south hills area I like to play (Baker's park because it's down low and wind is blocked out). I also hit a few times on the har tru clay of Mt Lebo. Clay isn't my best because my footwork can be negated by the idea of sliding everywhere lol.

by robinson courts do you mean by settler's cabin?

I bought mine 20 minutes after they were offered yesterday and the pickings were slim. Couldn't get four together anywhere.

And yes, potential cup winning game? Please Sir, can I have some more?

Gotta say, I'm pretty happy with those lines. Rust will get the easy matchups and Kunitz will have his best chance for success. And that fourth line is the definition of hard to play against.

Let's go boys, one more.

No.. unfortunately they paved those with asphalt. Complete and utter joke. It's dangerous to play and the tennis balls get all black. Robinson park is where their community pool is. Robinson Township Pool/Tennis Courts/Basketball Courts.

Crosby and Murray had a funny mention in Friedman's 30 thoughts today:

Washington’s Braden Holtby has a terrific grading system for the goals he gives up. He goes by “could’ve had,” “should’ve had,” and “no freaking chance.” I asked Pittsburgh’s Matt Murray if he has something similar.

“No,” he laughed. “I think I should have every one.” Sidney Crosby, who overheard the conversation, added, “I could have told you that. You wouldn’t have had to waste a question.”

Also this on a potential shared Conn Smythe:

The NHL has ruled I cannot split my Conn Smythe vote between Marc-Andre Fleury and Matt Murray. Back to the drawing board.

Maybe have her watch Stan/Rafa tomorrow. As soon as Rafa changes his shirt at the end of the first set, she's locked. Frick Park has red clay, too, but it's a freaking MESS to clean. I had to throw my shoes away after.

If the Pens win... 29/30 or 71/87 deserve splits. That really sucks to hear. As discussed on the main boards, if the Preds win.. I have no damn clue for their CS. No clue.

I didn't like the lines too much but we smashed them so what do I know

The midget line seemed to work better against Nashville. They weren't pinned in as much because Nashville doesn't have the forwards like Columbus had.

IF the Pens win, my order of preference would be 87, 71, 29, 59, 30, 81. I'm about as far from a Fleury fan boy as you can get, but he pulled us through two very good opponents, while the team was being badly outshot.

If you could split votes, 29/30 before 87, 71, etc.

For Preds, it would have to be Rinne, unless they win the next two games 6-5 or something like that. Even then, I don't know who else you could pick, again, unless someone has HT for them in the next two and they win both.

Game 4 gave me a lot of confidence that we can go into that building and play a good game. If we can replicate that performance (and we basically did in game 5) then we have a good chance at winning there.

Be easy? Nope. We'll need some timely finishing because Nashville will have its moments on home ice of pushing hard.

We can win there. I genuinely believe that.

The flipside is Nashville played well in our barn in the first two games of this series so we can't take anything for granted and just assume that we'll stomp them on home ice in a game 7. I hope the boys give it everything they've got and try to close this series out. Learn the lessons of the past couple. Yes we ended up winning game 7 in both games anyways but we were a bounce from losing to Ottawa or Washington. Anything can happen in a game 7 so let's try and not let it get there.

Oh for sure. I think it's a 50/50 coin flip tomorrow. Absolutely. Slight edge to Pens if Ellis cannot go or is extremely hobbled.

that fourth line is still meh cause Rowney's wheels fell off, hags and Horny need a quality center, Rowney ain't one,

geno's line is still very bad, it was bad last game too. First period they could not get out of their zone if the life depended on that...Wilson is just awful, he is slow and with fast defensmen he cannot get to the puck and be that F1 that slows down their play and allow Geno and Kessel in their flybys to possess the puck and set up the play. The only thing this line can do is if something happens off the rush. Total waste of Geno's and Kessel's skills. No ide why Hags is not moved up to play with them.

I really enjoy playing on clay, at least as a change of pace. But like Cole said, if it's true red clay... man is it brutal on the shoes. Have to have a dedicated pair just for that because they will be unusable after
