It's crazy at just how unstoppable we have looked since adding Price and Tulo.

Probably getting ahead of myself but, if they stay hot, 22-10 gets us to 96 wins.

In '92, they had 96, '93 they had 95.

Just sayin'.

Nobody is going to suddenly offer AA a President job, and you don't just promote him to President because the spot is open. People stay GM's for a long time, how long as Billy Beane been a GM for Oakland? How come they haven't promoted him to president yet? How come someone else hasn't offered him a presidents job yet?

Beane has an ownership stake, with no liability for losses. His stake is actually bigger than the one the team president has. Was reading some articles and they say it's worth around 20 million, could be higher if the A's get a new stadium.

As for why he is not president, Beane is apparently thinking beyond baseball and has other interests that he is passionate about. One of them is apparently investments and data driven things. He likes what he has now, which is showing up to work whenever he wants, wearing whatever he wants, and going on trips anywhere in the world to pursue his interests. In terms of work, he gets the budget, and has fully autonomy when it comes to the baseball operations.

I think he's got one of the safest jobs in all of professional sports.

Hello Leafs board, I am a Montreal fan and I come in peace.

I never followed baseball in my life and wasn't into the sport until recently. My boss at work is a HUGE Yankees fan (has a tattoo and all). So in order to bond with him, I tried getting into baseball. I never really felt absorbed by the sport until recently... This Jays team is so entertaining night in and night out... They have a new fan in me!

welcome! :)

I was under the impression they were trying to quietly push him out. For whatever political differences he has I'm not sure. One was support for a different MLB commish I think.

Yeah that's what I heard as well, he likes to portray himself as a maverick. I get the impression that Rogers doesn't like rebels.

 nope. i don't think they do at all
I just caught your dead arm comment. is that basically your arm is tired? Like I remember Sanchez having it earlier right?

Meh, now is a good time for Beeston to leave. Glad we are bringing in Shapiro. Solid baseball executive, that's respected league wide.

Yeah, when hard thrower has a dead arm its really bad, a kid like Sanchez is worrisome but I think it was shoulder and can be corrected through mechanics. Burhele throws soft and pinpoints his location and has never had arm problems a little bit of rest could do him a world of good.

Beeston is getting up in age. IMO he should retire and enjoy the rest of his life. I'm sure he is ok financially and doesn't need to work.

Sometimes it's hard for these big execs with egos to stop.

And by all means if he still desires to work, God love him..

Beeston was supposed to retire last year but they gladly kept him around for another year because they couldn't find anyone last offseason.

No issues between him/Rogers

Also I don't think he'll retire, he'll hang around as a "consultant" and just smoke cigars all day

People like Bob McCown, who is friends with Beeston, tell a different story. The courting of Kenny Williams and Dan Duquette last year were moves made behind Beeston's back. Beeston was apparently pretty pretty pissed off about it. He and Rogers basically made peace enough that Beeston agreed to stick around one more year. I've gotten the impression that Beeston was pretty close to walking away last winter over this.

Likely too old to squeeze taxpayers for the new stadium.

For those Keeping track:

JAYS 32 GR (15 home, 17 away)

HOME: vs Cleveland (3), vs Baltimore (3), vs Boston (3), vs Yankees (3), vs Tampa (3)

AWAY:at Boston (3), at Yankees (4), at Atlanta (3), at Baltimore (4), at Tampa (3)

YANKEES 33 GR (18 home, 15 away)

HOME: vs Tampa (3), Baltimore (3) vs Jays (4), vs Chisox (4), vs Boston (4),

AWAY: at Boston (3), at Tampa (3), at Mets (3), at Jays (3), at Baltimore (3)

I really hope the Red Sox and Mets do us a couple of solids. :naughty:

I know this is stating the obvious, but the division is likely literally coming down to the 7 games against each other.

Outside of the Jays facing a much weaker N.L. opponent, I think the Jays and Yanks are prime to lay significant beatings on those teams.

I'm going to swallow it up and become a huge Red Sox, Orioles and Rays fan when they face the Yankees.
