WC: Houston @ New York
ALDS 1: WC Winner @ Kansas City
ALDS 2: Texas @ Toronto

WC: Chicago @ St Louis
NLDS 1: WC Winner @ Pittsburgh
NLDS 2: New York @ Los Angeles

In both leagues, the top record gets screwed IMO - would much rather face the AL West/NL West winners than the WC winner likely

Also about a month or so back when I was going through the top run scoring teams I said something like 'every team that's led the league in runs by 70+ has won 95 games, guess that will change this year'

It might...not? 21-11 the rest of the way all of the sudden doesn't seem that crazy

Too close to Ottawa and Montreal
so let me get this straight, you wanted to promote AA to Presidant so you wouldn't lose AA and all the good he's done for the team with regards to trades and drafting and whatnot, when by putting him in the President position those things wouldn't be his job but the new GM, so you'd be losing out on all that stuff anyway?

Nobody is going to suddenly offer AA a President job, and you don't just promote him to President because the spot is open. People stay GM's for a long time, how long as Billy Beane been a GM for Oakland? How come they haven't promoted him to president yet? How come someone else hasn't offered him a presidents job yet?

People were overreacting and calling for AA to be fired just a short month and a half ago when we were under .500, no need to overreact and go the other way. Drafting development and trades is what he does best, why not keep him in the GM position now that he's finally built a team and let him continue on that road? Assuming he resigns of course because he's a free agent this offseason.

Yes and why not keep Beeston who AA seems to have a good relationship with.

You think Pittsburgh is going to pass the Cardinals?

I hope Shapiro keeps AA but puts a bigger emphasis on analytics and player development and let AA continue the scouting and drafting/signings.

So here are my predictions for September:

- Houston chokes down the stretch; Texas wins the West
- Cleveland goes on an absolute tear, wins second WC
- Yankees and Jays battle it out for 1st, Jays win by 2 games, Yanks win 1st WC
- Minnesota goes .500 the rest of the way, lose the second WC to Cleveland
- KC wins the Central

- Mets win the East
- St. Louis, Pittsburgh and Cubs all make the playoffs
- Giants and Dodgers will come down to a tie-breaker

Solid picks.

Not sure about the Tribe, even with their streak now. Lot of ground to make up, and a few teams to pass, but you never know....

Hope the Jays cool them off over the next few nights, but they are playing with a lot of confidence right now. Taking 3/4 in the Bronx did wonders for them.

Hello Leafs board, I am a Montreal fan and I come in peace.

I never followed baseball in my life and wasn't into the sport until recently. My boss at work is a HUGE Yankees fan (has a tattoo and all). So in order to bond with him, I tried getting into baseball. I never really felt absorbed by the sport until recently... This Jays team is so entertaining night in and night out... They have a new fan in me!

Their offense is finally clicking. And with their rotation, that gives them a chance to go .600-.650 in September, which is what they'll need to do to win the WC.

Can't argue with that. Playing some good ball right now.

Hope they do catch the wild card, and it's the Yankees that choke down the stretch, not just for the East, but for the WC.

.650 ball gets them to like 84 wins. The Rangers could go .500 the rest of the way and end up with the same record. Astros could go 12-19 and end up with 84 as well. The Indians probably need a month like the Jays just had in order to have a chance at the wildcard spot.

Yes and why not keep Beeston who AA seems to have a good relationship with.

Beeston blows, he's nothing more than a Rogers mouthpiece. Shapiro is an astronomical upgrade from a guy who's daily activities consist of drinking scotch and smoking cigars in his office...followed by smoking cigars in the exec suite during games.

Why keep Beeston? Because he seemingly has a good relationship with AA? Keep Beeston and we may see grass in the RC in a decade's time, if he's even still alive by then.

It's not even just games back, the Indians have to pass a lot of teams to get to a WC spot ... That is going to be a tough task

You have a great grasp of the present situation and history of Beeston and the Jays and his relationship with Rogers. No real objection to Shapiro, but why change what has began to pay dividends? Did Rogers allow the deadline acquisitions because of someone in their corporate office? Or did AA and Beeston work together to get approval from the suits to be bold?

You've conveniently ignored the fact that Beeston is retiring.
