he played a good game, set up a breakaway and easy tap-ins that were missed.
it's such a weird instinct to rush here to gloat over a game where he went pointless. what's the point of being a fan? are you watching these games?
Its almost as if the opposite is true the moment he has a point.

Being obnoxious usually breeds obnoxious reactions.

He had two third assist on Suzuki's goals.
He could have had another 2 assist if Suzi and Guhle didnt miss the puck.
He could have scored by himself but missed the puck too.
His passing wasnt good, though.
Hit the skates and sticks way to many times.
Still not a bad game. Solid B-

Only forward that played the last 3 games and shot less than Slaf in that span of time is Newhook. Basically the offensive contribution of a typical 4th liner playing 8 minutes a game. I hope this is just a bad stretch.

It’s the normal process of development. He wasn’t going to finish the year as hot as he was.

Don’t get too high and don’t get too low. He’s 19. It’ll hopefully be two steps forward, one step back.

It’s not a step back yet. This was always going to happen. It’s 3 games.

Of course it’s going to happen. 3 games is a step back from where he was. But that’s to be expected. That’s how development works.
We have no depth. That line cooled off for a small sample size. This is what we have to build towards. I don’t view it as a step backwards unless what I’m seeing is truly bad on HIS part. The same arguments have been made for Suzuki the last few years. We need to be able to alternate lines for these guys when things aren’t going and we simply can’t right now.

I see it as a normal flow of development. He’s played 20 good games and now three bad ones. Nothing to worry about.

just because he didn't have points doesn't mean he played bad games. I would say the Buffalo game where he took 3 penalties was bad. The other 2 games were ok, maybe not great, but ok.

Having said that, I have noticed that he has once again passed up some good shooting opportunities and tried to force a few passes. It happens, nothing to worry about, like you said.

His decision making will improve with experience. It's a natural process.

I didn’t see the Nj game. But the two before weren’t great

I think he’s regressed back to full pass subservience to Caufield and Suzuki. While they each shoot 5 shot games he’ll barely squeak one.

This off-season, I really want him to work on incorporating reverse hits into his game. He's going to continue to get targeted, and a couple Peter Forsberg Specials will deter guys headhunting.

I also think that because he's never going to be a big hitter, he should be working on his reverse hit ability to protect himself and grow his possession abilities.
