The previous 4 games have all but ended their chances.

If they manage to win another 5 in a row they're back in it. But things aren't looking good right now.

Hopefully they gather themselves to make it interesting the rest of the way!

I guess they should have sold at the deadline?

Stutzle is nasty though. What a game-breaker.
I mean they didn't have much to sell. Watson? Talbot? Holden? Hamonic? None are worth more than a 3rd at best. It'll be 2027 by the time a 3rd round pick contributes if at all (if we're lucky) we don't need that.

Chychrun was a long term play, they paid the same price they would have paid last draft or this draft so I'm glad he will have 20 games to gel with the group, and figuring out the Debrincat situation was going to be a summer thing regardless.

Everyone else is pretty much either on an ELC or signed long term

And yet all of their underlying numbers say that they are a top 10 team in the NHL. Been a weird year for the panthers but some smart moves this off-season with some slightly better and they should be battling for the division title again next year.
But they aren't. They are tied for 10th in their conference. They are terrible defensively. They will absolutely not be battling for that division unless they figure out that d core. It's the best division in hockey. They are what they are a mid team with no picks and a weak prospect pool that has a flawed roster with all its best players in their prime.

It's funny how points in October actually count the same as points in February.
Last year you tried to argue differently. Or do you forget that ridiculous tangent you went on. Trying to say they are more important. What a hilarious joke that was.

Fun Fact: Arizona has a better record than Ottawa since the Chychrun trade

Addition by subtraction
So I guess the leafs got worse too?... Amazing that they gave up a first + for a 4th liner and a bottom pair d man. Another loss where they were outplayed by an elite team again. Rinse and repeat.

I'll take getting the actual good player over waiver wire level talent any day. Chicago has a better record I guess that means Pat Kane sucks too. Rangers have got worse must mean he's terrible.... That's where your logic is coming from. A perfect representation of what you contribute around here.

It was similar to what's going on this season. 1-2 points seperating Detroit and Ottawa in the standings and Ottawa fans feeling good about themselves because their record in the second half of the season was good.

I said it a month ago, and everyone laughed. But they are soon in a playoff position, making big gains the last several weeks.

Tonight they are beating the Blue Jackets 4-1, outshooting them 23-3.
this thread has aged like bad wine. 15 gams left and 8 pts out of the playoffs and they would need to jump 4 teams to make the playoffs

The Sens had so much roster turnover in the offseason, it was inevitable they would take some time to get used to the system and the players they had. This year may not go as well as they hoped, but I am confident in them next year. All they need is a decent goalie and they’re off to the races

Unreal. So in the post I just quoted you are saying points are worth the same all season long. But now you are defending your old position? Do you think points are worth more at the start of the season than late? Winning games down the stretch is always harder teams are getting ready for playoffs. You argued otherwise. Bottom line is the 2 points is worth the same at any point in the year.. Take the L.

And as expected this jinx thread has turned into a sens trolling circlejerk.
What goes around comes around though. After the back to back stompings of the Wings, your fanbase was trolling the Wings non-stop, poking fun at everything in the organization. Not only was it your fanbase, your actual players decided to start trolling the Wings too. Maybe Brady shouldn't do that stupid muscle-man pose right in Walman's face in a 6-1 game next time? Just a thought for Brady, because when you guys were winning, you were on cloud 9.

Now you're losing, and other fanbases are enjoying giving you a little taste of your own medicine. So yeah, it's funny. It's funny how the Sens were buyers at the deadline, and the Wings completely sold, yet there's a good chance we finish ahead of you in the standings 🤣

Next time your team wins a couple big games, try winning with class, and maybe the rest of the league won't snicker at you when you start to get embarrassed on the ice.

I wouldnt trade the Sens roster for the Wings under any circumstance. 0 Chance. Ottawa is a way better team, Detroit isnt remotely close, Ottawa actually has the horses. The Sens bought a 24 year old top 4 d man. You are making it sound like they went after a rental.

I will say this, they should have traded Debrincat if he wasnt going to sign an extension. That was a big miss.

I loved what Brady did. If he played for the Wings you would too. Dont kid yourself. Sens are going to get a new coach bump and maybe can stay a little healthy next year. Where would Detroit be if Larkin missed the entire season. Or if both your goalies got hurt.

Damn you must be pretty thin-skinned to come up with an essay like that, enjoy the rest of the season.

I mean, we talking current day roster? I have no problem admitting that today's Sens roster is better (although the Standings suggest it's extremely close). Your forwards are deep, I'll give you that. Stutzle is an absolute game-breaking stud (just dives a bit too much). Tkachuk is a dominant power forward (who needs to learn to win with class.) Kinda ironic with all the show-boating that he does considering he's never won anything. Giroux has played like a monster this year. The Norris injury was unfortunate too, he's a nice player. Then you have Mr. Team Canada World Juniors legend Drake Batherson as well, but his +/- would make most PGA golfers enviable, and well his *alleged* off ice issues are pretty disgusting.

Your prospect cupboard is empty though. We have tons of studs coming, and 6 picks this year before you even make 1 in the 4th round. You didn't have a first rounder last year, don't have one again this year, and you wasted your 10th overall pick in 2021 on a scrub. I have no doubt in my mind we will reach where we want to reach before you do. Pierre is building to squeak into the playoffs, Yzerman doesn't give a shit about squeaking in, he's building for a Cup.

I will enjoy watching our 2 teams go head to head in the coming years, and I have no doubt in my mind Detroit is a contender before Ottawa.

You too! Enjoy missing the playoffs yet again, and looking forward to your 4th round pick.

Sucks that we seem to have played ourselves out of contention, but we should also be careful of moving the goalposts too much. The general consensus was that we wanted to be playing meaningful games down the stretch this year, and for a while that was very much in doubt until they turned it around.

Jesus, talk about meeting low expectations. You've missed the playoffs for half-a-decade. How is 'playing meaningful games down the stretch' (lol) the goal here?

Not to mention that the Sens have been well out of a playoff spot for the entire year. How many meaningful games were played before it fell apart? Six?

Remember this take:

I'm still laughing my ass off at all those Sens fans who got super mad when I said Suzuki was currently a better, more proven player than Stutzle while being paid less.

:biglaugh: :biglaugh: :biglaugh: :biglaugh: :biglaugh:

Aged like a gym sock filled with soft-milk cheese.

Suzuki - 68GP 21G 30A 51 PTS
Stutzle - 63GP 34G 39A 73 PTS

So it's safe to see that Tim has already massacred Suzuki's career highs in goals and points in 60 games.

I think we'll all take your opinions on the Senators with a pretty gigantic pile of salt.
