Since we've wandered a bit fusion-y lately I had to share this shockingly obscure track I came across from "Trio of Doom." Look at that lineup holy crap. Very short-lived, I read that Jaco and Williams often fought.

There is a whole album.
Right, recorded in Havanna. No studio recordings I believe.
I think this is probably right around the first years of Jaco having the addiction plus mental health concerns.
I believe his issues came to a head around the Word of Mouth tour. Which was early 80s. Trio of Doom if I remember right is 1979?
That sounds right. I think he started to really lean into the drugs while still with Weather Report around 77 but the bipolar went undiagnosed for years after that.
I don't know if people have heard, but Mimi's currently in some rough shape from ovarian cancer, they've been canceling dates left and right. It sucks because a) cancer sucks and b) I don't know if there's a band that's been so consistently good at reinventing itself as Low in the last 40 years.Missed this the other day.
Yeah so I have a soft spot for Duran Duran. Big whoop. Wanna fight about it?
EDIT: I had forgotten how outta control bonkers the video is.
No shame. There was a bygone era when the term "pop" did not necessarily equate with "boring, mass-produced garbage." I have spoken long and lovingly about my recent rediscovery that most of the Tears for Fears output was really REALLY good. I go native sometimes and pull out like, Huey Lewis for a lark.
I still go back and dig back into the 80s pop scene to see what else I may not be remembering accurate.
