Yup.

For argument's sake, the Debs take Kakko. We're on the clock at #2 and Vancouver comes calling for Hughes. What would it take for you to even consider trading the pick?
While there such thing as a Godfather offer, all signs point to Rangers not moving the pick. And they should not. But, again, if Vancouver would be willing to give up an absolute Emperor's ransom (not even a king's), am sure Gorton would listen. But I doubt that Vancouver would be willing to meet the price. My want in that situation would be unreasonable from the Canucks POV
Holy.... thank god you aren’t our GMHowever, if Hughes is there at 2, I'd glady take a package of Horvat, Boeser and the 10th overall and then have Gorton find a way to trade up to 4 and take Cozens or Dach.

Any Godfather offer for the second pick starts with Pettersson and the 10th and goes from there.
Pettersson, Boeser, a prospect, the 10th, next year’s #1 (unprotected), plus 2nd round picks both this year and next is about what I’d expect.Any Godfather offer for the second pick starts with Pettersson and the 10th and goes from there.
Trading the pick might be the most ridiculous idea that I've seen on here. The Rangers finally land a top 3 pick and somehow find their way into #2 where two elite game-changing franchise players happen to be waiting and we are talking about trading the pick?
Getting this lucky in the draft just doesn't happen to the Rangers. Some of us are still pinching ourselves and honestly I still have trouble accepting that it's actually a reality. This isnt normal. We are talking decades. Half Centuries. Other than the Cup in 94' it could be argued that this is the best moment for the Rangers since then.
But we'll just let Kakko or Hughes be a star on some on some other team for a bunch of spare parts and a first round pick that isnt as guaranteed. Yeaaaah...
And shot.Any GM who trades away Jack Hughes for that package should be fired on the spot

Pettersson and the 10th... that is a serious offer.

And still not what I would accept
I doubt any GM would, if only to avoid serious embarrassment.
But in terms of value I dont know, I wouldn't be shocked if Petterson alone has a better or at least comparable career to Hughes.
If this were a straight asset swap in an industry that wasn't absurdly public I think the offer would be pretty appealing.

When I see Hughes and Kakko, I see two players who have that 90-100 point range in them. I see Pettersson being maybe a notch or so below that - maybe in the 80-90 range.
But I continue to think in our effort to build Kakko up, we're severely underrating Hughes.
Hughes is a dynamic player who has done things that no other teenager has ever done.
I cant imagine what his sleep schedule must be like after all that.Gorton was interviewed by Bill Pidto. Gorton went to Slovakia to see Hughes, Kakko and a few other players. He went to Sweden for the U18. Flew back to the US. Flew to California for the team meetings. Flew to Slovakia for the EC. Flew back to NY. They are going to Buffalo for the scouting combine next week. The draft is 4 weeks from this Friday.
