Jesus i was way too optimistic when i thought they may be able to win against the mediocre at best Pens but man Sharks are on a level of suck few reach . Maybe one thats never been reached.
My apologies, I didn’t know they were that close to the cap ceiling. Not sure what else they can do.We acquired said veteran players in trade instead.
Those veteran players - Mike Hoffman, Jan Rutta, Mikael Granlund - just happen to be garbage, alongside our own immovable veteran players - Vlasic, Ferraro, Labanc.
We're pretty close to capped out as it is - projected to have $3.8 million in cap space. Not a lot of room.
He's one of our better players.
That should indicate just how bad we are, because he's trash and off to Europe next year.
How many of them would even return a mid round pick? Guys like Hoffman & Granlund are cooked. The Sharks’ roster is full of vets who will be available for trade at the TDL.
Hoffman might get us future considerations if we retained 50%. Travis needs to take Hoffman's career out to the corn house. How many of them would even return a mid round pick? Guys like Hoffman & Granlund are cooked.
So I'm not good at math but aren't they on pace to lose 82 games?

Granlund might still have a little life in him, but with his contract he has zero value. We're stuck with him until next season.
Guys like Barabanov and Duclair might have a little value. Labanc and Kunin probably have none. Couture and Hertl are good players but bad assets, probably no value.
This team is just that bad and has no path to improve in the span of a year or two.
The 1992-93 Sharks:
11-71-2 (24 points) proudly and forevermore
holding down the title of the worst team in franchise history...
The 2023-24 Sharks: Hold my beer.
That '93 team? They were blown out by 8 or more goals just once - we've done it twice, two games in a row and we still got 70 more to play!

And I think that a great outcome for overtaking is the case of the Buffalo Sabres. One time in 10 you get Berard.they have over-tanked. i also don't see any kind of a coherent plan to entertain or play with an identity or develop anything with that roster and the barracudas also suck. it seems like it is just a completely wasted year for everyone in the organization. i am not sure greer can hockey ops.
maybe they were hoping to get some past their prime but respectable forwards as a byproduct of weaponizing cap space and nobody blinked. at this point they are going to have to be legitimate buyers of such players to survive the season.
on the bright side, this is the best shot cole cassels will ever have to play in the nhl.
On another board someone said that last time someone has lost two games in a row giving double digit goals happened in the 60s. I'm too lazy to check if that if true, but man.
That’s because there isn’t any with this roster because most of the players aren’t part of the future. I’d say only Eklund and Hertl will be a part of this team in 2 years time. In terms of Barracuda? Yeah, no shit they stink. Almost all of the guys drafted in the last two or three years aren’t there either. There’s Robins, Bordeleau and Gushlin plus Muhkamadulin and Thrun from trades and that’s probably it for potential NHLers. The rest is a bunch of late round lottery tickets like Brandon Coe and Gannon Laroque or free agents like Justin Bailey and Valeri Pulli.they have over-tanked. i also don't see any kind of a coherent plan to entertain or play with an identity or develop anything with that roster and the barracudas also suck. it seems like it is just a completely wasted year for everyone in the organization. i am not sure greer can hockey ops.

Because for the first 7 or 8 games they were giving up like 47 shots a game.Despite Sharks really suck they are still better than Oilers in goalie sv%...like how the f*** is this even possible?
The Sharks fell to 0-10-1 to matched the 11-game winless starts by the New York Rangers in 1943 and the Arizona Coyotes in 2017 and 2021. The last time a team allowed 10 or more goals in consecutive games was the Boston Bruins in 1965. The Sharks lost 10-1 to the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday.
San Jose has only scored 12 goals this season, and its minus-42 goal differential is the worst for an NHL team ever through 11 games.
Literally not how pace worksThey’re on pace for 8 points.
How you divide that between Ws or OTL or SOL is up to you.
b2b giving up the double digits
Still six less than their matchup in 1996. Sharks beat Penguins that day. What an exciting rematch for the Cup finals from previous years, 12 goals scored!
