Both. He was left an old roster and a bare cupboard. This is a case of ripping off the bandaid slowly rather than do what Pittsburgh is doing and slowly peeling it off to avoid the pain.
Is he even a respectable hockey mind? It seems like he was given a job where ones reputation could only be worsened during

I'm pretty sure Grier intends to trade them for picks at the deadline, that's his entire plan and MO for bringing in veterans like these
But my point is if each guy has 2 goals by the deadline, you're not getting anything of note for them. Grier should trade them now while they still have their reputations to lean on. Just call up guys from the Barracuda as replacements and make the sharks an even bigger joke. Not like Grier seems to care about the optics.

He's definitely new at all this, I think his brother is an NFL GM

I feel really bad for the players and fans this has got to be weighing on them. My goodness this is generational bad of a start.
Honestly I've been calling for a full rebuild for years so I'm okay with the suckage, definitely want to build via multiple drafts

I'm trying to think of the current NHL'er that was on one of those horrible NHL teams

and he said something about feeling like he was skating with an 80lb weighted vest on.
The psychological warfare on your confidence is next level.

Correct, his brother Chris is the GM of the Miami Dolphins

You can be awful in the NHL but you can't get outworked. You don't give up 10 in back to back games without getting outworked. Quinn has to go.

The Oilers are making it difficult to justify. What if the new coach gets us two wins? All of a sudden were equivalent to a team with Drai, McDavid and Hyman.

He had no reputation. He was also in a position where he had absolutely no leverage when it came to making trades. He was given a lot of freedom but with it came the inevitable major criticism because of that lack of leverage and the impending reality of what he knew he had to do.

I’m sure there’s a ton of demand for the guys on a team that just gave up back to back games of 10 goals.

I really don't think I have seen a team this bad since the Sharks in the nineties. This shit is absolutely brutal. They look like they beer league team.

Just took a look at xG (all situations) via naturalstattrick:

vs. Vancouver, the xG were 3.59 to 3.61
vs. Pens, the xG were 3.44 to 3

The discrepancy is pretty unbelievable...

I wonder if the coach will resign. A season of losing like this might ruin any chance of coaching in the NHL again. Not his fault for the terrible roster he has at his disposal.
