The San Jose Sharks are horror-bad

If I'm Tomas Hertl I'd request a trade after tonight and after these first 10 games.

Dude is literally on an island. He and Duclair are the only two players that aren't 4th line/bottom pairing caliber or worse on that entire roster.
And yet he was invisible tonight while Zetterlund and Ecklund and ancient Vlaasic continued to bust their ass, despite the incredibly lopsided score. I wasn’t impressed with 48 tonight.

Who is trading for him and his contract?

I feel bad for Duclair. He went from a pretty solid Florida team to being dumped for cap reasons into this mess.

If by "on an island" you mean relaxing with his feet up not playing hockey then I completely agree. Haven't seen the dude try yet this season in my limited viewings

Yeah, unfortunate for sure.

Gotta believe the Sharks are gonna make some significant moves here soon. Even if its just waiving a few guys, sending them down and bringing some kids up from the AHL team to get a chance... You cant just keep doing nothing after an 0-9-1 start and a 10-1 absolute beat down.

Can you waive an entire team?

Hiring a rookie GM for to manage an aging team with a terrible salary structure through a series of tanking seasons wasn't the plan?

Hopefully we end up as the worst team of all time so we at least win at something
At this point it feels extremely likely quite frankly...

Wonder what the worst record of all time is excluding expansion teams? The 2016/17 Avs were pretty terrible, might have been like the 2nd or 3rd worst team IIRC. They ended with 47 points I think and I cant imagine San Jose getting close to that lol.

No GM was going to be able to turn this trainwreck around in less than 3 years. The important thing to realize that most of the young players we’ve picked up over the last couple of seasons via trade or draft are not on this team. This is a temporary product of ragtag losers with no bearing on the future.

Just watched the game. Didn't realize they were this bad.

At a glance it seems like the dcorps is the weakest link, pretty much AHL calibre.

If addressed they should at least be able to play a stingy defensive game to be competitive. Gotta feel for the players and fans of that team.

Not sure what the plan is there.

There's no offense either. Our leading goal scorer is Fabian Zetterlund with 3. The highest point scorer on our team is Hertl with 5.

There is only one plan in the modern NHL - suck as hard as you can and hope you get lucky.

I can´t tell you how glad I am that NHL.com did not upload the video-recap before I got up this morning.

Watching that would probably have come at the price of a new screen and bluetooth speaker...

What's the longest losing streak that an NHL coach can survive? David Quinn is at 10.

Yes, Mike Grier's plan in San Jose is to tank and build through the draft. You're not supposed to be so damn blatant about it, though. This is the NHL, and the game tonight was simply not a competitive game for this league. Makes a fan wonder "what are we even doing here?"

This was Quinn's 300th game coached.
